Oh well, I can't see Ah Chee being the difference between us contending next year or not, I think we'd be able to pick up a mature age WAFL player with our 3rd and not notice the difference between the two.

What about the 'Callum argument' (playing a longer game). I personally think Brendan could be a decent player too.

I understand that if Ah chee is delisted by Port we can pick him up outside the draft as a DFA.....but Port need to delist him.

Say if we have offerred him a 3 year contract totalling $900k but front load that contract in year 1 to $500k then two years of $200k can Ah Chee then go to Port and say pay the market rate match that offer and I will resign if not delist me?

Now before people get antsi about $300k average pa contract that is below the new average with the new cap.

I would be concerned if he did enter the PSD that Gold Coast would swoop before our pick. They are getting pretty desperate and would also hope that getting Brendan would help them retain Calum.

A contract that I would suggest is significantly under what we have offerred. Port must be getting very close to the new cap, last year Dixon moved for big money, now Rockliff and Motlop plus they are still chasing Watts.

If Port offers Ah chee a one or two yeatr deal on $200k opposed to what his true market value what does that mean within the AFL guidelines?

Thats what Im getting at / asking.

If he is offered a contract he cannot be a DFA even if he doesn't sign .

Yes, but he can't get a game in that system! By those standards, Tom Lamb is coming from a very good system of key forwards...

That's exactly my point, Sydney have lots of good mids, he still played 5 games for them this year and with our weaker midfield should play a lot more. Tom Lamb has always been a bit surplus to our needs but right now we're crying out for 22-23 year old mids to complement/develop with Duggan, Sheed and Yeo etc

Yes but is he a good mid?

He's not bad, gone alright for them when played and would shine more without competing with Kennedy, Parker, Hannebery etc for time in the guts.
