Assume we go from 13 to 19.
Meaning we lose access to players from 13-18 (6 players), this is the likely talent we miss.

2011:
Taylor Adams, Devon Smith, Brandon Ellis, Tom Sheridan, Clay Smith, Brad McKenzie

2012:
Jesse Lonergan, Aidan Corr, Taylor Garner, Jackson Thurlow, Josh Simpson, Brodie Grundy

2013:
Patrick Cripps, Cam McCarthy, Zac Jones, Darcy Lang, Michael Apeness, Luke Dunstan

2014:
Lachie Weller, Jake Lever, Jarrod Gartlett, Sam Durdin, Kyle Langford, Issac Heeney (academy)/Blane Boekhorst

2015:
Mathew Kennedy, Eric Hipwood, Daniel Rioli, Harrison Himmelberg, Tom Doadee, Jade Gresham

So I've highlighted players who would be a pretty big loss if we downgraded.
9 of 30 players. (30%)
Some of them are excellent players though, so you do miss that potential for top end talent.

So you could say with those two picks we're likely to take players who settle around picks 19 - 25.
So are two players from the below list better than 1 from the above?

2011:
Elliot Kavanagh, Hayden Crozier, Tom Mitchell (F/S), Brad Bootsma, Murray Newman, Henry Shade, Seb Ross

2012:
Ben Kennedy, Tim Broomhead, Nathan Hrovat, Dean Towers, Marco Paperone, Nathan Wright, Spencer White

2013:
Blake Acres, Jack Leslie, Jarman Impey, Darcy Gardner, Matt Crouch, Billy Hartung, Daniel McStay, (Zach Merret @ 26)

2014:
Jayden Laverde, Hugh Goddard, Daniel McKenzie, Pat McKenna, Jack Steele, Daniel Nielson, Toby McLean

2015:
Ryan Burton, Brayden Fiorini, Ben McKay, Kieran Lovell, David Cunningham, Ben Keays, Josh Dunkley

So from the list of 35 players I'd say 7 are high quality or looking like good prospects.
Drops to 20% chance, but obviously getting two bites at the cherry.

You'd be laughing if it was 2013 and you nailed the picks, but it's really unlikely.

Obviously this is a very limited view, but it seems that pick of 13 gives you a better chance of getting top end talent.

It kinda feels like the 'Monty Hall' math problem. A game show with 3 doors and you have to pick the one with the winning prize.

If we are trading into about pick 20, isn't this about where Oscar Allen is predicted to fall??? Not really a player in a position of need and doesn't really project to being a true KPF, but maybe future forwardline setups won't have 1 true KPF

Port and essendon should be much improved next season

Not necessarily. Still a bunch of campaigners. Bombers 2nd year blues after drugs scandal and Port are flakey, can not trust to perform

Motlop and Rockliff are one-way downhill skiers. Expect Port to once again fail to beat a top 8 team for three years running. Players that look a million dollars when the opposition gives up but go missing when times get tough.

Oscar was talking himself up as a big mifielder who plays forward a couple of weeks ago. A Stringer / Gov Jnr type half forward.

Get him and Worple with 19 +25.

Cant see rockliff as a down hill skier when he has had no opportunity to down hill ski in the first place.

The draft this year is pretty even from 10-25. Getting two of those rated players is better than one. Only risk is a 5-10 sliding.
I actually think the evenness in this year's draft goes from 5 to 15 and then from 15 to 35. So holding pick 13 - we should have a good inside mid midfielder available. If we slide to 19 and 20's, we will get a the next level down. Sure you get 2 of them but I would prefer Clarke or Constable say at 13 compared to Worpel and Spargo at the next 2 picks inside 25. If we wanted a tall, then sure, Oscar Allen or Clarvorino or Sam Talyor plus a mid.

We really need the best quality inside mid and need to prioritise that hard.

This draft isn't supposed to be as deep as last years so as far as I'm concerned we should keep 13 and aim for one of the top 10 or so non kpp players, as there seems to be a noticable drop off after.

We've traded away plenty of decent picks over the years, need to start picking out the true talent from the first round, f*** 2 picks in the 20s, i want Hunter clark or jack higgins. We need a young gun who can come in round 1 next year and impact, also having a big scope for improvement.

You don't think those 2 improve them at all?
What about essendon,a team that already ran us ragged got faster in the backline and better in the small forward spot

Is there any chance worpel is around at our second? I feel like we could do with another big body at the contest.

We have a young gun to come in round 1 next year, his name is Daniel Venables

We were run ragged by a coach who knew better than most what our weakness was

The slowest midfield by a country mile - multiplied by the length of flemington straight to the power of fully laden b52 runway - in the afl.

Fair call.

So instead of trying to improve our draft position, Vozzo is actually going to do the opposite and trade UP the draft order?

Well said. I agree with your assessment of the draft depth.

Pretty sure every coach would know our weaknesses
Essendon had the players to do it,now they are better and could get Jake stringer on top

Next year we lose priddis Mitchell vardy/petrie To be replaced by venables, ???? And Nic Nat. That's a dramatic top up of speed. More midfield time for Yeo as well will help. Lecras out helps up forward

Yes pace will still be an issue but not as far off it as was this year.

Weller, Wilson, ablett go thier desired clubs and gws get 19?

That would work to keep everyone happy ..

Geelong Pick 19 / GCS for Ablett

GCS Pick 19 / Freo for Weller

Freo Pick 19/ GWS for Wilson

Port - take the fourth rounder already ya kents.

You think Port would have learned to not risk taking it to overtime when dealing with West Coast.

Accumulates numbers with little impact. Great for fantasy football but Brisbane are better off in the long run without him.

Essendon have recruited better.

Of course this could all backfire as Port win the flag next year but I stand by my current opinion that Motlop and Rockliff are not what Port need.
