I'm happy for Lecras to play home games only, and if in good form away games against top 8 teams, otherwise give him rest. His performance the last few years has been directly related to how fresh he is. Travel kills him.
Particularly travelling to Melbourne - not too bad with the shorter flight to Adelaide as played very well against Port earlier in the year.

Nonsense.

It does effect the list when it goes on for three or four years longer than it should have.

Our use of the rookie list for retaining guys with low ceilings as emergency depth really shots me. Adelaide had at least 3 rookie list guys in their GF team (Laird, Cameron, Hartigan) because they took a punt on them initially.

So who does LeCras job share with? Surely dropping either Venables or Rioli every second week is hardly going to be conducive to gaining form and confidence! I would rather back in Venables or Rioli and give them a consistent run at it and then only bring in LeCras if you need to freshen up the youngsters.
Rioli has to stay fit though as so far he doesn't seem to be able to get on the park. His hammies seem to be a bit of a problem.

Lecras shouldn't even be on the list, let alone getting games ahead of Rioli, Venables or fingers crossed, Ryan.

Now he's retained it should be for DEPTH purposes only, and he should know that by now. Having "fire" in the belly is all well and good, but when you're 32 years old and the club is finally going through a rebuild of sorts, you need to know your place and what's best for everyone going forward.
Will depend upon how he comes back next year as he carried that hip injury for a fair bit if 2017 which may have hindered him in being able to play at his best. If he can get on top of that during the off season he may still be if some value as he used to know where the goals were and can remember you would bet your house on his accuracy in the past. If only he could get back to those days!

Says pick 50. Deal within 3 days

  • West Coast and Port Adelaide are still in discussions over Brendon Ah Chee. With the Eagles' pick No.50off the table in a straight swap, the clubs are waiting to see how the Power's other deals fall before settling a trade for Ah Chee. It could involve pick slides.
That is on the AFL site today. I dont think we are giving our 3rd. We said we want 5 picks in the top 50 and it would go against that

I prefer this version

He's only there for Insurance though in case Nic or Lycett break down again so don't think there is too much to worry about? Also Vardy would be in front if him also so he's about 4th down the list as far as rucks go.
Thats a stupid way to list manage though. Why have insurance for something that "might" (although very unlikely) happen, rather than try to improve the list overall. This year was probably the only time that our strategy has been useful (Petrie). There isn't going to be many times where the first 2 rucks on the list are out for the whole season.

McInnes is a tweener. It'd honestly be better filling 2 list spots with a forward and a ruck than keeping a guy that is average at both.

I'd much rather pick up a young ruck that is actually a specialist at that position and if it gets to the point where he has to play (nic and lycett down again), then so be it, at least he has a chance at developing further. We've seen how far Mcinnes can go and that should be the end of it.

Herald sun reporting that we have been discussing swapping picks 25 and 30 for pick 13 (not necessarily that exact deal) with the dogs.
Plus a sweetener our way. Hate it. Don’t trust our recruiters to get it right at the high end let alone the back end. Unless the sweetener is swapping our 2nd next year for their 1st.

I have this gut feeling that the trade for Ablett will end up biting Geelong on the ***!! He's broken down so many times with injury whilst at GC so don't know what will change (mainly due to his age). Injuries are a bummer in the twilight of your career, particularly if you are injury prone.

If you are doing calf muscles on the Gold Coast, what are the odds of doing one (or 2 or 3) in North Antarctica?

Seems like we're trying to glory be ourselves

Relax. Article only states that there have been talks, but only a compelling offer would get us to hand over pick 13.

The dogs have also had similar discussions with Lions, Tigers and Freo
