Wouldn't be surprised if we are involved in some other pick swapping tomorrow.

As it stands, in: Ah Chee, 13, 32, 50 & 69 (if we use it). Upgrade Watson perhaps

That's 5/6 main list changes. Far cry for the deep cut we were told...

If we end up with only 5 changes to the main list people need to be sacked............simply as that. Either they don't have the balls or the brains to manage the list. It has been widely acknowledged both internally and externally that our list needs an overhaul, 5 or 6 changes is not an overhaul that is simply average list turnover.

We will just need to wait and see won't we!

I just dont get it. If we are planning to go all in on this draft why didn't we go hard for the RFA's and FA's.

Where does it state a maximum number to take?

It doesn’t, but if you are taking 10 picks in the draft you are usually well into the dregs of it by the end.

Reading about mature age players this guy:

Geelong VFL co-captain and renowned tackling machine Tom Atkins over his last three matches registered a mind-boggling 52 tackles. His strongest performance through that run came against Collingwood's VFL side where he registered 25 disposals, 23 tackles and two goals in a best on ground performance. The 22-year-old midfielder from his 28 games over the past two seasons has kicked 23 goals, highlighting his danger around the big sticks.

Why wouldn't they just downgrade 2 to 5 and thrown in one of their 2nd rounders?

Freo reportedly weren't interested in upgrading 5 to 2, but they might be interested in having two picks in the top 10.

I suspect because Fremantle think that Weller is worth more than that. And in the parallel universe of the 2017 trade period, they might be right. Gold Coast might even be desperate enough for a trade "win" to offer more...

So if it didn't work out then why persist with loading up on this draft?

Why would you quit just because you missed out on a FA? Who of the FA's is an absolute game changer for us anyway?

Going to the draft indicates a bit of a rebuild. Going after FA's indicates topping up for a flag tilt. Different strategies.

5 or 6 changes to the main list is a bit. You can't take 10 players in the draft. With the rookie changes we will be into double figures.

To date we've made one trade for a fringe player, no free agent movements and swapped a future 3rd round pick for a future 4th round pick related to the trade in of a fringe player.

Sorry that does not constitute reasonable efforts to overhaul an aging list that has failed to reach the heights the managers of that list have proposed.

Sure we should not judge this on the sample space of an incomplete trade / draft period but at the end of this period we would want to be making some headway. It will take more than one off season to address out list failures and next year is apparently a strong draft but at this minute we have made a bit of noise but not really landed a shot.

IMO the club needs to adopt the philosophy of the SAS on and off the field. 'Who Dares Wins'. An international and Perth / WA based institution of elite soldiers we had some reasonably close ties to several years ago. I just hope Rawlings and others at the club back themselves and take some risks.

But the Stringer deal remained in limbo on Wednesday after talks between the Western Bulldogs and West Coast about a complicated pick swap hit an 11th-hour snag.

Essendon has offered picks No.25 and No.30 to the Dogs for Stringer and has ruled its future first-round pick in next year’s draft off-limits.

The Dogs wanted to on-trade selections No.9, No.25 and No.30 in return for the Eagles’ pick No.13, and shuffle selections in next year’s draft.

The move would have helped the Dogs essentially secure pick No.13 in return for Stringer but the two clubs remained apart in their negotiations on Wednesday night.

Sounds like it's not completely off the table as yet

There's been a total of nine trades made so far. None of them have involved pick swaps yet, they've all solely been about getting wantaway players to their destinations.

There's a fair bit still to play out tomorrow.
