I suspect our fav targets for midfield will be gone.

They tend to get taken earlier than expected 1-2 months out.

Players who slide are tall defenders, rucks and 3rd tall forwards.

Gun HFF and mids/high ceiling projected mids always go earlier.

If we can stay in the 8 it's a good deal. The club should be backing itself to play finals next year. No reason not too.

I wonder if we'll ever see a straight swap of future first rounder for future first rounder. Both clubs backing themselves in to do better then the other next year.

This was a great trade for us imo. We need the extra picks to get that list turnover and we are making serious points profit assuming gc and wce finish as expected next year with them bottom 4 and us mid table.

This would not have been possible if we traded our 2017 pick 3 for Ah Chee earlier in the trade period. Also, if we traded our 2018 first pick first in a deal like this then we couldn’t have traded any of our later picks from 2018 in a subsequent deal - isn’t this the case? Rawlings and co must have been planning something like this all along - almost genius like.

I think it's a good deal even if we don't make finals. Which I don't expect us to. But gc could get the spoon next year if we've swapped pick 8 for pick 20 next year this is still a big win on points and definitely given our position in needing turnover.

At first i was fuming with our first rounder but next year we will have 2 second rounders and 2 4th rounders to go along with a 3rd rounder. GC will struggle so it could be pick 19-21 next year which is close to a first rounder. Then there is a chance Gaff going by FA which would be either A an end of first rounder so pick 19 OR we we force a trade and get better value.

Brady has taken a big punt which can either pay off or fail but at least it is something different.

Already posted the point values.

They have to be top 8 and us bottom 2 for it to break even.

If we both are bottom 8, it is still very in our favour.

End of the day, I think we know Gaff is goneski next year & it takes a bit of sting out of it if we do slide down the ladder in the fact that we would likely still have a top 10 pick in the draft.

Glad though that I'm not the only one unenthusiastic about Schloithe. Certainly not with a pick in the top 40

You don't rate Starcevich ? I would like him and Jack Petruccelle.

Like him a lot just I don't have a second round grade on him. Mid third rounder the earliest for me.

Petruccelle is very much a project player , great pace, very inconsistent and needs to learn to read the play much better than he currently does.
Good option for a side that already has a complete list..... thats not us.
