The article on AFL.com doesn't mention us getting Suns 2nd next year.

For anyone still unsure about what happened, here's a novelty sized breakdown off the WCE facebook page.

Reports that Carton were going to go give the bombers pick 25 and 30 for pick 16.

Wonder if we could go: 21 and 31 for pick 16?
Unless there was a certain player we wanted at pick 16 (Oscar Allen) i'd rather take the 2 slightly higher picks.

Yeah, but that isn't the trade. You can't just lump Gaff in.

Why not? It's math simplification.

If we're expecting Gaff to leave next year and the compo to be right after our 2018 first round pick, then Gaff = our 2018 first round pick (well, 1 selection later).

We already know that our 2018 first rounder = 21, 26, 37 and a future 2nd.

Therefore, Gaff = 21, 26, 37 and a future 2nd.

Crows are stupid for not accepting pick 12 for Cameron... That is a MASSIVE steal if they get pick 12 for him!

I can also see why they dont want to because they are banking on next year getting to the GF with the addition of Gibbs.
If they can get Poppy of Hawks they will do it

Would we all be happier if instead of trading next years first, we traded out 13?

Unless we get a slider, there’s no real obvious option for us and removes the risk of us sucking next year.

Smith Saad and stringer are a good trade period for the bombers. Well till smiths knee never fully recovers and Stringer never knuckles down. Then sucked in.

Nah it's great work from them - all 3 can play.

Essendon are easily the best fit for Stringer - he can play 3rd Banana behind Daniher and Hooker (plus other talls). He should thrive again with chump defenders guarding him.

Smith is quality and Saad under rated I think - could flourish easily.

They've nailed the trade period - talk about delivering, at great value.

GC wouldn't have done that I don't think - they (and Freo I would assume) are betting on us going worse than 6th next year.

Obeanie1 have you calmed down a little bit cobber? Gonna remove that bag of flaming faeces from Rawlings's porch?

Yep. All good today.:thumbsu:

Just happy what happened was what I hoped was happening. Stuff Dogs and Essendon. Gold Coast was always the mob we should have been talking to re pick swaps.

We actually rolled the dice, took a risk to improve our chances in the draft. We simply didnt have the players to trade so we needed to trade a future pick and we have.:D

This one single trade swap move with Gold Coast has single handedly got me actually excited and intensely interested in season 2018.
I don't think I've ever looked forward to a trade period so much as this one.

We've screaming for a rebuild and to play the YOOOOOF and it has been delivered.
Will be great to blood these identified young talents in while we have what is arguably the best spine in the AFL.

So does us trading the 1st this year signal Gaff is leaving next - meaning we get 1st round compo in 2018?

Essendon have done really well to not blink on 25 and 30 for stringer, other clubs might of lost a player to that trade as well. If he gets anywhere near his best that trade will be a steal.

Just thinking, if we are only planning to draft 5 players and our 4th round pick will go to waste, we should at least try to swap it with another club's 2018 4th rounder.

Currently our 4th Rd pick would be Adelaides 2nd pick in the draft (Unless Cameron is traded)

I like the idea of trading that pick for Melbournes 4th Rd 2018 pick Adelaide currently hold.

Because he wasn't part of the trade and we have no idea if he leaves.

Not at all.

It probably means we consider next years draft even and deep or that we think this draft is deep etc etc

I bet my balls we'll fight hard to keep Gaff and I'm confident he'll stay.
