I think what Silvagni is doing is borderline unethical (not that anybody involved with AFL admin will care anyway). He has too much information (who is paid what for how long and all those stuff) about the GWS list - how do we feel if Rawlings left us, went NM and start to poach our Vic players?

I am really happy with what we have done. If we had maintained the status quo, we would have had a slow re-build with a couple of ok picks year after year. We are now hitting the draft (assuming nothing changes) heavily this year and making the re-build a one or two year transition rather than a much longer one. Of course players drafted will take time to come on (so I don't mean we will suddenly be in contention) but if we have a good draft period, we should have the nucleus of a squad that can grow to contention. With a couple of mature bodies in the 22 to 24 age bracket (which is where our squad was lacking) in Ah Chee and maybe Kelly, we should be pretty competitive in the short term as well.

Shouldn't be as much "we aren't a contender so it's better if we miss the finals" being thrown around next season. Actually going to be nice.

I don't know how good Hawthorn are at developing their players. Over the past two years, they have traded two of their best players for effectively picks 75 and 88. Reckon this Clarkson bloke might have to pack it in.
