After being a turnstyle for so many years I think GC were just desperate to get someone that actually wanted to come to the club. The fact that pick 2 would see them put a few years of training into a top shelf Vic/SA/WA boy who pisses off straight away probably means they dont value a pick 2 any more than a pick 40- which is about where the best QLD talent is likely to go .

Don’t need to be tall when you got excellent footy smarts. Caleb Daniel, Toby Greene etc.

I’ve warmed more to Hunter Clark over the year but still love what Higgins brings.

Think with our batch of second rounders there will be an opportunity to draft a Brent Daniels or Gryan Miers.

Didn't Higgins take a year off from school to just concentrate on his footy?
No doubt he has talent but him not having to concentrate on school/uni/full-time work would mean that he would shine out more than a bloke as equally talented as him.

I like Higgins btw and the early thing was a joke but I'd rather see us get some size into the middle.

Pick 2 ... for a reasonably good young mid and 12 for Cameron. Is the AFL doing a fire sale for the Queensland clubs?

Factor in our pretty good win with GC and they have been horrid. Thanks to those trades and the way GC playing we have likely downgraded 11 or 12 to 19 and received a spate of 2nd rounder.

No matter which way I look at this Gold Coast pick swap I think it's a fantastic deal.

We literally have to finish bottom 2 in order for it to resemble fair.

On trade radio Gold Coast position was they had 4 picks in top 10 last year, have two first rounders next year. An established young player like weller was worth it.

I'm not as down on it as others. Weller is good, we'd be frothing over a third year player averaging 20 touches and with serious pace. Will average 25 touches a game this coming year.

Plus he is actually moving because he wants to be there, not solely for the money or it's the only place he can get a job. Probably worth paying a bit extra but pick 2 is a lot extra.
