The way things are going there won't be much difference between our future 1st and GC's future 2nd.

If Gaff was to leave we'd also get an end of first round compo for sure.

I reckon we will regret trading our future first.

GC would be a huge chance to finish bottom 4.

If you think of it as a pick slide instead it really was a good deal. Depending on our finishing position it might end up unbelievable.

The Weller trade is obviously terrible for GC in the long run, but it does make them better for the 2018 season.

Thats debatable they lost Ablett, Saad and Matera IMO Weller and Young don't go anywhere near bridging that gap.

Way worse for Gold Coast?? Assuming we finish similar to last year and GC finishes around 4th last with maybe some compo picks in there to ham it up....

15 + 52 for 20 + 25

vs

~13 + 50 for 21 + 26 + 37 + ~24

Iv already posted the points comparisons for various ladder finishes.

If we improve it is a huge win.

If ladder results are similar, its a big win.

If they improve and we slip, still a solid win on points, but heavily dependent on drafted players. We may win on points, but in reality that low pick has way more value simply due to access to top talent.

An inversion of positions or WC sliding down the ladder to bottom 2 swings the points in GC favour, but is really a disaster given the quality available that early in the draft.

We don't have players wanting to leave.
And we got a great deal off GC as well, let's see how the draft goes and the players who are recruited develop.

Every chance all our picks could end up being better than Freo's 2 top end picks.

Dangerous precedent set at Freo. Look at the revolving door even quality clubs like Adelaide have become once Pandora's box gets opened.

GC have no idea. My guess is they desperately want high end experience.

As someone mentioned before, we can easily get back into the first round next year, two second rounders could net us 10-15 easy. More so if GC finish bottom. That's like pick 19.

Danger was one of the last groups that were able to be drafted at 17. He was in year 11 at the time and stayed in Melbourne in his first season.

So we now have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds (up to and including pick 37)

As a comparison the next best club has 3.

I hope this is a sign we are looking to da yoof for 2018.
