Not far off it - L Fogarty at 21 or 26 would be excellent as he is an inside mid that can also play outside and in the forward line. O wpuld take him ahead of Worpel.

Twomey's write ups are variable but I think he nailed Fogarty in this one:
There is plenty to like about Fogarty, a prospect who just gets it done most weeks with a minimum of fuss. As an inside ball winner, Fogarty can collect big numbers of touches and is neat and tidy with his ball use. The thing that makes him equally effective as a midfielder is his ability to attack and hit the scoreboard, and he was a regular goalkicker at all levels he played this year. Fogarty is the type of player who could be picked a little later because he is on the smaller side, but he has the tools to be a valuable AFL player.

Feels like a Parto write up.
minimum of fuss = doesn't break lines.
Inside ball winner = has no outside game.
neat and tidy ball use = short kicks & handballs only, no real penetration with his skills.

I suspect we may get Sam Taylor as cover as a KPD, MacKenzie and Schofield don’t have too many years left. Should be available in our pick range.

I’d like to see us pick up a young ruckman somewhere, as they need a lot of development, NicNat won’t be around forever and Lycett and Vardy may not be up to leading our ruck.

Any regular WAFL watchers have a view onSouth’s Jarrod Garlett? He looked set to have an impact at GCS before returning home.

Yes. Improves our midfield immediately and has all the attributes we require.

Those saying no are just getting hung up on the mature age aspect.
Bollocks.

Has a lot of Blaine Boekhorst about him IMO. Handy inclusion but not worth over-reaching for.

I hope we get him, but if Carlton want to overreach at 30 like they did with Boekhorst they can have him. 32 or 37 at the earliest for me.

I reckon there will be a slider that we can grab. Balta, Bonar, Shipley, whatever. But we have enough good picks, close enough together, to ensure the talent doesn't all slip through the net.

But I'm not sure I'd take both Constable and Worpel. Those two would both be wanting time in the middle, but they're behind Redden, Ah Chee and Sheed, as well as Shuey when he rotates inside. So we might have to waste them in the WAFL or play them out of position - and we've had enough of that lately.

Sure understand what you are saying but we need to work on our inside mids and only drafting one kid doesnt get us options or depth in the position we need fixed. Chances are they wont play 22 games and injuries happen, look at last years crop, not a single game out of any of them.

What this does mean is Hill and Wellers are likely finished.

Crossing everything we get him as a rookie (Garlett)

Kelly at 26, Ryan 37, Schloithe 67 and Garlett rookie. Fill in the rest with kids who I don't know enough about

Ryan at 67 for me, if he's gone by then so be it.
He's a risk and I don't think any team will pull the trigger in the 2nd round.

The problem I have with this list is that they will be far from the best players available at those picks.

26 isn't reaching for him in my opinion. That's clearly where we differ in our judgements.

Saying you'd take him at 32 but not 26 is a bit silly, really. The difference isn't huge and 26 would ensure Carlton can't steal him.

Yep, i have a suspicion we are looking to Sam with that range of picks we got.
When I watched the Sowfs demolition of Swans in the EF this year, I thought Garlett was the one who allowed Kelly to get off the chain. He was combative with Crowley, in particular, who was throwing Kelly off his game. I started to think a lot more of him after that game. :thumbsu:

Darcy yes.
Lachlan I highly doubt that.
Who do you rate higher, L Fogarty or Worpel? I liked Worpel but his kicking looked a little suspect in the small amount I have seen of him.

Just out of curiosity have you seen Lachlan Fogarty play ?

And by some margin.

Don't get me wrong I do rate Worpel but I just see a lot more of Fogarty's skill set transferring better to the next level.

Fogarty more a Ryan Clarke @ North.
Worpel more a Luke Dunstan @ Saints.

Would be happy with both at 21 and 26 , if we went that way.
But would rather we miss out on Worpel than Fogarty.

Ok draft day here we come.

13 - H Clark / C Constable or N Coffield

21 - O Allen

26 - J Warpel

32 - J Petruccelle / G Miers

37 - G Miers / T Kelly

67 - T Kelly / L Ryan
I have to start sifting through some draftees but i think we should look at getting one of either Schloithe or Kelly, getting AhChee has filled one of the voids from Mitchell/Priddis.

We still lack young midfield depth, so I'd be happy if we draft 4 genuine mids (not HBF's) and one small forward and one young ruckman.
