I find the objection to the risks associated with youth a weird objection. Ultimately that's where the reward comes from, it comes from the unknowns. When a guy is a little older those unknowns disappear, which is why someone like Kelly gets drafted but not drafted really high up the order.

I don’t think it’s an objection as such but it is just such a lottery now. They put so much faith in running and jumping instead of can they actually play. The fact that so many of the drafted players have never confronted men before it is a huge unknown what you are recruiting now than in the past.
Things are different now I know, once recruiting was done for the next season, now they recruit for 3-5 years time. We have to accept it how it is, but for me I will judge them on what they produce when they pull the Eagles jumper on without excuses. Development is for second tier not the AFL. But that is just my view clearly.

Thats debatable they lost Ablett, Saad and Matera IMO Weller and Young don't go anywhere near bridging that gap.

This is correct but there's upside for them with a new coach and the natural development of a young list. Fingers crossed they continue to be a basket case though. Just one more year of having no ****ing clue. Please.

Need to grab Kelly with 26 or Carlton will with 30.

I like Kelly as much as the next guy but we shouldn't fixate on him just because he's from WA.

I'm ready to miss out on him in favour of better prospects, even if I don't know much about these prospects.

People seem more worried about athletes than footballers.

So if we use Picks 12, 21, 26, 32 & 37. Then we have to get rid of 1 of Hill, Wellingham or Lamb.

I can't see us retaining 2 out of 3 - I think one only survives.

Hill is gone, I think we can all agree on that.

I think if Lamb has any other offers he'll leave - delisted free agent.

Perhaps there is another in play? A delisted FA of our own?

Hartung?

If I had to choose 2 out of Hartung, Lamb and Wellingham, I reckon Hartung would be 1 of them.

Nothing wrong with that. In reality if no. 13 plays next year, then great. It's not on the second rounders to come in an play next year, it's on venables, parto, cole, rioli, mutimer, Nelson to take those roles. The second rounders need to push for a debut and be set for the following year.

There's very few 18 year olds who should be able to handle afl football and be a positive given how professional players are now. You generally need time

Wellingham should get another year, I think we either keep Lamb or go in with 39 senior players again.

If you are on an AFL list you should be pushing to play, if not then you should not of been drafted as you are not ready to play at that level. But that is how it was and not how it is. Like I said earlier, the draft will be a good day for East Perth.

I would like keep Wellingham and play him on a wing as he was recruited to play, one year deal only of course and lay it on the line to him that next season is everything.
Is he more likely to help us there than Higgins/O'Brien/Spargo/Petruccelle? I'm sure one of our five picks will be an outside type who can fire up on the wing.

Yes he is much better than all of those players who we have not a clue if they can even play yet.
They might all be a better option than Jetta though

BOND 007 should have been far more specific with his question. Is everyone happy with what went on with the pick transfers should have been the question. You Monocle are happy with the world because you are dosed up, however, Figure09 does not seem at all happy.
Go figure, eh? ;)

Spargo is 0% chance of last til pick 37. Have to get him inside 30. A bargain I believe the problem is he hasn’t got height so that will rule him out for us

Pretty happy with the trades.

Rawlings explanation video was good as well- we kept our options open and chose the best deal. He does seem very switched on.

Losing a first rounder next year is concerning, especially if it turns out that we have a bad year next year. But we can always trade in if we needed to. If we make finals we have made out like bandits. 2 picks in the 2nd round does leave us in a good spot.

I hope that Lamb stays - think he will come on next year. I'm not sure the interest is there- we would have taken a token pick for any club that would have offered one if he was insistent on going.

No all good now thanks swannies , surgery went well, but arm still in a *&@^%@ sling :persevere: for another three weeks, almost off the painkillers.
Spending way to much time at the Physio .... but she is super cute , great sporty fit body, strong hands easy on the eye, so thats a nice bonus..... better medicine for the soul than painkillers. :grinning:

Not back working so hence the fixation with BF at the moment the trade period was a great replacement for boredom.
