I'm in agreeance - think he sits around the late 2nd round.
I'm sure if by seasons end he hasn't cemented himself in the seniors, he'd want out.

Life span of players is only short and what would worry him most, he's nearly 24 and only managed 43 games.
0 games last year, 0 games so far this year. Not like its improving for him.

If his career with us was the other way around he maybe a top 10 pick but whatever way you look at it, its going on a downward trend. I would agree around 30 to 40.

I think it means a little. Ben also played in couple of GF's. We can knock him all we like but at the moment he is tracking better than a guy in the seconds who by the way struggles in the seconds.
If the Hawks had Hickey would McEvoy play every week?
FWIW i consider McEvoy to be a very good footballer, his deficiencies that he is slow and not a good forward or a great ruckman.

Some have said on here that the club is not happy with the way Hickey is going presently. After an excellent season last year, what seems to have happened? Is it all related to the 3rd man up rule?

How is Longer actually doing in the VFL? Is he doing enough to challenge for the senior spot?

The conundrum for me is this...
Do we want a Mumford style, enforcer - type ruckman who can out body his opponent, hopefully get the hit out to the advantage of our mids, but is not mobile around the ground and a questionable mark?

Or do we want a guy who may not be the strongest in the contest ( and now hindered by the lack of a third man up) but is mobile, good with tackles and second efforts and can pop up to take a mark in defence and around the ground?

It appears there is a big difference of opinion on this board ( and possibly at the club) but for me, at present, Hickey offers more...at least until Longer can show that he is absolutely dominating at VFL level. There is no way we will play both, but it makes the recruiting of Rowan Marshall as a future possibility a very shrewd move IMO.

So what exactly does he have going for him that makes him a good footballer?

I'd have him behind Hickey that's for sure.

I'd be all on his side if he stopped trying to drag others down with him or do damage to other people's reputation

Hes vindictive, nasty and just full of shit

Has anyone stopped to think about how the WCE doctor, physicians and administration might feel about being slandered by that piece of shit. Thankfully no one listens to anything daniel chick has to say anymore otherwise it could hurt them financially.
All this after they went out of their to try and help him multiple times. Only for him to turn around and claim hes the victim from some half coherent post

Its not the first time he's done this either. Usually he has some journalist peddling his shit but it seems now they won't even run with his crap so he's now turned to bigfooty

The reality is this is all about money. When ever chick runs out of cash he throws shade at the WCE to try and get more hush money from the club or something out of the media. Or if he here's the club is helping some other past player or their family then he's out wanting more. When he doesn't get it out comes the Daniel Chick inventing some new bullshit story about how bad his club was

There's a reason WCE fans do not like him
WCE were a shocking club in that era and probably got what the deserved from him.

Is Longer really that much of an upgrade on Hickey in the ruck? Like not around the ground but in the ruck itself.

It seems to be like because he's more muscly, and maybe a centimeter taller, the assumption is that he's a better or more physical ruckman.

I'm not having a go at anyone but I'm wondering where the notion that Billy is more physical comes from?

He is, Hickey is a twig compared to most rucks.
Heard him say once he always loses 3-4kg or so in the late preseason with all the running.

Hypothetically, if we are trading one of our players with value, we should look at a pick for next years draft, not this year.

We've already got decent currency with 2 first rounders' this year. We won't need too many draft picks as we probably won't be delisting too many players based on who's out of contract.

If we got a future 2nd round draft pick for next year, we could potentially bundle two 2nd round draft picks to get another first rounder for 2018. Giving us 2 first round picks to target another big name for 2018.

But we don't have a 2nd rounder this year. Could trade a player or two to get one though

Interesting to here berretons comments on McEvoy. Basically he's realised he has the same issues that we identified the year before he was traded

I.e. terrible ruck but can take a good mark around the ground but it happens too rarely for him to be considered effective. Said one reason GC mids were so dominant is because McEvoy is so ineffectual in the ruck
He's a whipping boy on the Hawthorn board too

What would?

2 x first round picks?

No the plastics parasite think they are entitled to pick 1,3,5,7 and 10 every year.

Don't you know they require this because they only have Half of NSW and part of Victoria as their "development academy" and are under competitive.

No we would have to give them 5 first rounders in the top ten plus the next three future picks for them.

That is the mentality of the plastics and their supporter (singular)

My chin is up.

If we ever win another flag, we will have earned it, not had it given to us like the AFL created supported team in Sydney's west that absolutely nobody cares about and who is a drain on the competition both monetarily and in talent.

Enjoy your gifted premiership when you win it. It wont be valid.

Cheers. If we do ever win it, I will certainly be enjoying it, trust me. Enjoy your day.
