I hate other teams!
Probably wants a flag first then he's off. Might have to wait a couple of years for him.
That's funny because GWS are not going to win a flag anytime soon.

Looking at their list, while it appears to have depth, it actually doesn't. I mean, for our game, Greene & Haynes were injured & Whitfield was still drug suspended, and we beat them, so I'm not sure that they have great depth at all.

Sure they have an abundance of talent, but most of that is raw untried top draft pick talent that aren't really getting a look in at AFL level. Hopper & Kennedy look ordinary because they are forced to play on a forward flank when they are inside mids.

If they lose another 2-3 players this year, the depth drops away yet again, only to be replaced by more young untried 1st yr top Enders, especially if it's guys like Smith, Kelly & co that leave

What are people's thoughts on Rockliff now that his character isn't being questioned all the time, certainly playing good footy for Brisbane, still an option if we miss Fyfe/Martin?
Im not super keen.

He's a brilliant footballer, elite for mine, but he is one paced and we do already have Steele, Armitage and Dunstan who are at different stages in that area.

Kelly, Martin, Fyfe obviously all more attractive but will be hard to woo. If we couldn't get any of those I'd probably get Rocky.

That would be hilarious for North
When asked, my source was pretty much Nah about Kelly. Reckons Fyfe and Martin.

But then things can change quite quickly and others have posted that we won't match Norf's terms.

I think he'd be smarter to move for a big 4 year deal, giving him the option of a massive pay increase, or stay put for 2 years at good coin then hit pay dirt where he'll command Fyfe like money.

If we could trade Dunstan while getting Rocky as a free agent then our net result would be a major upgrade on a player AND a pick for just a few hundred grand more in the salary cap. Surely we'd be thrilled with something like that.

There have been some great wingman over the years and Kelly fits the mould. Pace and a big tank, can win his own ball gets back and defends great foot skills.

We need a Kelly type very badly, there must be his type in this years draft, it's pretty hard to miss players like that.

Wing was traditionally a spot where young players got a start, same as forward flank and pocket.

One man's trash is another man's treasure they say. Well I don't care what other people say I still think Tom lamb as a free hit is worth a look. Big tank, pace, height and kicks goals.

I don't want to be captain buzzkill but we could easily miss out on all of Fyfe, Martin, Kelly, Whitfield, lever etc.

I hope we have a plan b and c in place to hit the draft and try our luck with under-utilised players.

Brown, Stevens and Steele are making a big difference right now. If we traded for three players who made as much difference as they have and still hit the draft I would be wrapped.
Kelly isn't a wingman.

And we need to bring in players who will help us win a flag. Not someone like Tom Lamb who will struggle in the VFL.

Also Caro (or someone else?), their inside mail is J. Kelly favoured to take a 2 year deal with GWS, and then reassess after that. Similar to Dangerfield a few years ago
A family friend is a school mate of Kelly. He told the same thing today, reckons he'll sign for 2 more years with GWS.

If we don't get anyone.

I go to the draft and pick up 2 other top guns in the country.

Or

we could trade those picks for 2018 first rounders if we want to go after someone who comes out of contract or free agent in 2018.

The cap has been positioned, we almost have to get someone.

Tbh i cant see any reason why Kelly would take 5 x 1 over 9 x 1.
Any way you guys spin it. It doesnt make sense to me.
Our offer is good because at the end of the 5 years if your playing well you can earn even more than the 4 million your already guaranteed from the other offer? Lol wtf?
No. If Kelly chooses us over a big long term guaranteed offer from North like that. At least we know he's choosing us over them for reasons other than money. But ofcourse its not just going to be a 2 horse race anyway. Will be other good offers.
I think our offer is low.

If Kelly does sign for 2 years with GWS.

He is either really dumb or really smart. If he can be better than how he is in 2 years, his price undoubtedly will be over 2mil per season. Or either he gets injured and has changes that are unattractive his price will dropped below what we assume he is worth now.

Kelly sure as hell plays like one.

Tom lamb was a gun junior, tested really well and by all accounts is unhappy in Western Australia. Sure there were question marks about him which is why he was predicted to go as high as top 10 and dropped to 32.

Many people would have questioned picking up Kobe Stevens, seems to be working out pretty well.

List spots will be tight and lamb probably won't get a look in but I would rather have him on the list than Holmes for instance.

Dunstan and our third for pittard & their second?

Rockliff as an FA to replace dunstan (brissie get band 1 compo as a sneaky PP)

Hawks 1st and our first next year for Fyfe / Kelly / martin

Port second + what we get for hickey for a first next year

Draft our first rounder

Upgrade Holmes and Marshall with late picks

Joey retires, Gilbert retires, hickey gone, dunstan gone and we drop 1.

Imagine the press if Martin joined us and then hurt a flys feelings
"Aggressive St Kilda Midfielder Dustin Martin was seen viciously attacking an Ant on the footpath leaving AFL house after signing a free agency deal with St Kilda"

Danien Barrett with the exclusive that Martin was on cocaine the whole time and should be arrested

Is it fair to measure their depth based on our game against them?

Kennedy doing his ACL early hurt them badly in that game, and they have the worst injuries in the comp at the moment.

6.5 + 5 years will be more appealing.

Kelly definitely doesn't play like a wing. He's a pure midfielder and a bloody good one.
I couldn't give a shit if Tom Lamb was a gun at junior level (which isn't true hence him getting drafted in the 40's??) he has done absolutely nothing at AFL level to suggest he would improve our team. Let someone like Carlton or Collingwood roll the dice on him so they can enjoy even more years being mediocre.

If we trade Hickey, I'd rather Holmes on the list than Lamb
