If Robbo goes that would be the biggest slap in the face to the club.

Look at Hawthorn then look at us it's just awful if he goes especially after this year's form.
I reckon we would be stupid to let him go no matter how much we need to match, he's our best back and close to irreplaceable. It wouldn't be any cheaper to go get Pittard or Johanissen. We should put up some good offers for the Hawks players to think about to pay the campaigners back. Malicious arseholes are just bitter about their desperate attempts to get hold of our first round pick.

JB is staying as I mentioned weeks back.
Sinclair is staying but his current form will be costing us a bit more than we would have hoped!
Robbo is the interesting one, as far as I know the club and his management are still a fair way apart in terms of years and dollars. Hawthorn (and at least one other Vic team) have offered big contracts.
I think he'll stay but to be still a little way apart at this time of year is worrying.
We are confident a big name will be joining us and we are hopeful of obtaining a young player who was rated highly in his draft year from West of Melbourne.
I also have a feeling we will try to trade out 1-2 best 25 players if suitable deals can be found, which might be easier said than done. One of those will be a player seeking more opportunities and the other will be club driven.

Don't be so melodramatic ...
It's the new AFL ..Player movement and trading will increase even more in coming years.
Team loyalty will mean less and less,as good players will have more options to maximise their earnings and opportunities.
We can't expect to rape and pillage other teams lists without taking the odd hit ourselves.

Straight swap for Cicely? We would be big losers in that deal.
You're right, just trying to work out who and how a deal would get done, apart from Sicily and Lovell who would the Hawks let go of and who would we want? Sicily fits the aim of a multi position player and would work better for us than the Hawks as a swingman with our taller forward and stronger back line. I have no idea what picks the Hawks could have to sweeten the deal. Given we haven't come to terms with Roberton, how much of our cap do we have left to pay for a more equal trade Isaak Smith or Breust?
I've liked the look of Lovell but say we get a gun mid would Lovell be happy to come to have less opportunity here, just for example competing with Kelly and Tucker plus our list of younger mids.

If he doesn't want to be a premiership player he'll go to Hawthorn. They are way off contending. Hodge's retirement today leaves them with a massive hole(s) to fill

Hick & Sav are gone

I know these days it's mostly all business, but for us fans it's personal too.
Would hate to see Robbo go but the byproduct of becoming more successful is that our players will be targeted, and others will leave for more opportunity, so sad as that is we at going to have to learn to suck it up.
But still....:(

Hope Roberton gets named in the AA squad - might put his price up.
He's good but no huge loss for me.
Im the same .
I cant see him going but hearing 700k on table from hawks . With currently White , Rice , Mckenzie, Phillips ect... all waiting opportunity i think we can cover a running half back .

Who have we raped and pillaged ?.

A couple of money ball picks and a guy who needed a new start after being used in a medical experiment by his team. When we have done some raping and pillaging and won a flag then I will be more philosophical about increased player movement.

Hawthorn on the other hand have been working the system for years, screw them.

Oh and bye the bye the afl players association keep cherry picking bits and pieces from the NFL, funny how they don't mention the length and extent of control clubs have over drafted players. They only ever talk about free agency and profit sharing.

I think they have been given about as much as they are going to get without giving up more themselves, I don't hear them talking about four year contracts, franchise tags, restricted free agency, minimum gauranteed money and the clubs ability to cut you at any time.

Maybe we won't see as much player movement as some people think.

We have no idea how the club rates, Rice, White, Donellan, McKenzie, Webster against Roberton. For example while Roberton is taller he seems to player smaller, Rice, White, McKenzie and Webster are shorter and all seem to play taller, it will be a decision made on perceived $ value vs perceived football value.

As far as Hawthorn are concerned picking up Rockliff and Roberton in the off season would make a big difference to their chances and they are playing pretty good football right now.

If Robbo is being offered $700K PA and he required us to get close to it, we could do worse than to trade him to Hawthorn- for whatever you get in return for someone you rate so highly you're prepared to pay them that much- and then go and get Pittard for "free" through FA.

Not necessarily much between him and Robbo, so if they were going to cost us similar dollars, but it came down to Robbo v Pittard AND say Sicily/Hawthorn's 2018 first, it wouldn't be a hard decision.

As we saw last year first hand, Hawthorn trade very fairly in order to just get deals done, so I expect we'd get a good return for Robbo and that return would largely be like a "freebie" on top of Pittard.

If Roberton had been in the premiership side last year he'd be talked about like Johanssen , only difference he's not out of form.
Yes he plays shorter than he is, but so did Gilbert, but Gilbert got better at the tall stuff as he got older, so do lots of players.

Neckbeard to the saints confirmed.
He was the one that came to mind for me as well. I was told at the time that we really rated him highly and we would have put a lot of time into him, given we originally had that very pick that he went at.

Would be a much cheaper version of Lever, with a potentially similar upside.
