I would be more than happy with Goldstein especially if he is cheaper. If he can play that well at North imagine how good he can be anywhere else!
I would rather Jackson Trengrove for half the price and if worst a low pick .
Ask any Norf fan what they think of Goldy .
He has little influence on games .

At the end of the day I think he's coming and love him or not he's going to be a good player. We don't have much elite talent and he's at least going to be in our top few players regardless. I wish he was cheaper and I'm not as comfortable as some throwing all our high picks at him but that's life. We are going all out to make a team that can challenge for a flag and I will back them to have a go.

Why would we get him? Surely we want to play Longer as much as possible? Would we get GOldstein to sit in the vfl waiting in case Longer gets injured?
Seems odd to me.
the idea is about strengthening your overall ruck stocks

i'd take goldstein down on form over what hickey has produced. hickey looked like he turned the corner in the pre-season but he's looked meh since. you also have to remember that maybe hickey will want to seek opportunity else where

so you essentially get goldstein over if the trade price is affordable (think salary cap dump here), then you let goldstein try and win the number 1 ruck spot. at worst you've improved your depth. at best you now have an elite ruckman providing elite service to your new elite midfielder(s), in a year where you are spending more money

we've also seen from the likes of sandi and mumford and cox previously how long some rucks can go for. they tend to have really good football late in their careers, compared to other positions

You don't pay big money to get depth. If we want Goldstein we must be sure he will be our first ruck. Little increments isn't improving our side. I have no issue in getting him but he must play in our best 22 at what we will have to pay him and it would be at least half of his contract.

Pretty sure Goldstein is on 800k(happy to be proven wrong) which would almost certainly put a line through him
has two more years to go, so thats 1.6m north have on their books. they might be open to sending 400k our way, still save 1.2m. get a future 2nd or 3rd or depth player.

No, what the stats show me is exactly how I remember Dangerfield. He rolled between midfield & forward but mostly played midfield, & definitely didn't find the ball as much as Kelly does or have as good a tank.

So for mine, the fact Kelly already has an elite tank & averages nearly 30 touches a game, I can't see why people don't think he could go to equal or beyond that DF level. Hell, in just 3 years, Kelly has gone from a skinny winger to a pure midfield gun, be it inside or outside, and put on muscle bulk pretty easily

It's impossible to say with any kind of certainty that one player will be better than another on stats though. He might ba as good, better or worse but stats from the exact same age won't show anything other than a rough guide. He looks very good but to me he's always going to be a diamond encrusted Andrew Gaff more than a Paddy Dangerfield. He's going to be at least a very good player you would imagine regardless. I think he hasn't earned the right to be held in the same conversation yet or earn the same pay as the stars but hopefully if we take him he will get there.

No but not all of them take 3 to 4 years either. Definite statements both ways are exactly the same. It really doesn't matter we just have to hope what ever way we go works for us.
Most do. Or like Weitering have a great first season then have an ordinary second season.

Almost all draftees take years to develop.

Yes we have. We are exactly where we were told we would be.

We have worked the d&t, letting bj and Dal go FA, trading Mac and Rhys, getting a return from the Carlisle trade in Gresh, picking up a top ten risk in Freeman, choosing Billings #3 choosing Paddy #1 ( would have preferred Petracca but there you go).
Made some Blues, Spencer and Lee, but also some bargains in Goddard ( hope he gets on the park next year), Steele, Battle, even Seb Ross and Newnes, Membrey and Roberton

All done while GWS wad plundering the top end and Sydney had COLA and still had academies

And one poster does not make the board hysterical over Kelly.

Dont think too many here would agree with that
If we followed it to a tee then where are our A graders, so that means we didn't or we ****ed up and should rethink what we are doing.

I will spit the dummy if we even entertained it. Goldstein a few years ago, yes. Goldstein now and more importantly a year older? No thanks.

He is a shadow of his former self - North realized this. Shopped him around, didn't get a buyer, even with the senior citizen discount.
The girls in marketing at Seaford better watch out

word over here was they were asking wce for 1-2 first rounders, so they passed given the cost
My mail was that WCE got some mail from a female journo about Goldy and they passed. Not sure about the demands for first round picks but I understood that Norf were super keen to offload him. Still are.....
