On paper our forward line looks very good. Some tall fwds, medium fwd gun in Membrey & a touch of class with Billings & Gresh. Maybe a manic small def fwd could be added or Long/Lonie improve out of sight.

Our mids looks quite strong but obviously lacking a bit of class & perhaps leadership (although Billy seems to get them going when he's on). Kelly & perhaps Sinc rotating mid/fwd adds class but probably need someone else on top imo.

Our defence is shaky. Carlisle the only bloke I truly trust. The rest look good half the time but generally we have some poor disposers & decision makers. White I reckon improves us straight away but another quality user down back is also needed.

The teams coming together just need to tinker in a few areas & fill some gaps.
It's a shame Hughy has had his last two years ruined by injury. Would've been good to watch improvement from him, with luck next year he will be back fit and firing. Was definitely keen to see him form a combination with Jakey in DEF this yr.

Yup. I'm not even considering him atm given he's been out for so long. He's in the Freeman bracket - a bonus if he makes it.

Watching tonight I thought the defence looked shaky. We have a good small brigade with Roberton and Webster and Savage again was excellent tonight but our taller backs get exposed too easily at times. Carlisle should be a third tall defender rather than a classic FB. He is great drifting in across and mopping up but gets exposed if players get off him or is forced to stand his man shoulder to shoulder. We probably do need an extra tall with a bit more mobility done back.

So much of our defence is through the effort of the mids and forwards to help out still. I was impressed by the mids tonight, thought they stood up. We really do need a live wire forward to cap us off too. Kelly, Lever and Charlie Cameron or Walters would make us pretty complete.

Our fwd line has some decent cattle however is extremely dysfunctional.

Our midfield has some decent enough grunt however lacks a true leader like a Selwood type. **** we miss Lenny. Stevens/Dunstan/Steele is too dour. I feel in time Stevens will be the one to make way.

Around the edges we have Sinc, Billings & possibly Kelly to add the class. Acres offers that point of difference.

Our defence is overrated by us. Geary, Webster & Brown are shaky. Robbo could sometimes make extraordinary poor decisions given he's such an intelligent player.

No ones perfect so I'll give guys like Webster, Geary & even Bruce a pass. But for us to really improve our squad I'll be hoping for the following changes:

Weller out for a speedy small fwd (not sure Long is the guy. I remain hopeful)
Stevens out for Kelly
Brown out for Lever
Gilbert out for White

Suddenly we become a far more balanced squad with better foot skills & decision makers.

It looks like we are out of the race for Lever but gee I'd be throwing the kitchen sink at him along with Kelly. Maybe even have a look at Breust if he's gettable.

B: Geary - Carlisle - Robbo
HB: Webster - Lever - White
C: Sinclair - Steele - Kelly
HF: Billings - McCartin - Gresham
F: Membrey - Bruce - Breust
R: Longer - Ross - Steven
I: Savage - Acres - Dunstan - Newnes
I'd like to try Sav in that Weller Lonie Wright Mich position and bring in White for the Sav spot.

I am not an ITK. I live in England, so don't hear the gossip. But as I am currently in Melbourne I had some time with a very well connected bloke today. He said that he is hearing that Josh Kelly will stay put. It may not play out that way, but as I said he is well connected. I suspect that is the situation at the moment.

He also said the Saints were doing a lot of due diligence on guys that might go in the draft around our picks. One kid he knows of we have spoken to/interviewed 4 times already.

A lot of work going on!

I'll join in on watching the highlights but might give the group wank a miss thanks mate.
Unfortunately I'll also have to give the group wank a miss.

I overdid it at the wanking training session during the week and now I have a very sore foot.

I'm sure we are planning for every contingency. I think Kelly is gone and we are in front still. Everything is possible though.

The bloke is...or has been ,,..connected to another club. That is their reading of it. Who knows what Managers say to keep the wolves at bay.

We haven't done a lot of trading out recently ... I think this year could be the year .. we have some players I reckon we can afford to get rid of and use for other players or build a strong draft position..

Wellar - been disappointing this year and I reckon can be easily covered on his position.. would be worth something reasonable

Lonie - may look to leave and we should look to get something if he wants out

Hickey - too good a player to be playing sandy, we can cover longer well enough with Pearce, Holmes even Marshall... cash in for a decent pick

Mckenzie - would hope not but if there's others a head of him it could be an option

Armo - completely surplus to our requirements imo.. send him to a club who needs him

Not unhappy if we go to the draft. Some early talent.

Btw, what about Rice in for Gears in 2018. (Ducks head)

Whilst Kelly is an absolute A grade gun he won't alone propel us into top 4/flag contention.

The club will be busy during the off/pre season. We need:
- Kelly + more quality through the door
- development & improvement from current StK players
- Skills/goal kicking improvement
- coaching/tactical improvements across all lines
- luck
That will all happen, we as a group are very critical about our side, who would of thought Richmond who looked worse then us last year look where there are now, you jump up the ladder very quickly & our list has the right mix to do it.
