Heard the same, they are using kelly as a selling point for fa's..

Seems like it's genuinely split between us and carlton.. gws would have to be ruled out surely
Yeah, just got a weird feeling about Carlton...

FWIW reckon their list is overrated and the older guys will be falling off when the younger guys are ready.

They (rightly or wrongly) are still a big club with a huge supporter base and have a great track record with getting their man (judd).. an exciting nucleaus who could suprise a few whilst murphy and gibbs are still in their prime

If Kelly stays or go to the blues...

Our first for L. Weller or Jack Martin.. both beautiful kicks

Draft Stephenson or top 5 slider with hawks pick..

They will add another top 3 pick this year and probably another top 5 next year. Their spine is pretty good now with Mc Kay, Weitering, Curnow, Marchbank, Jones, Silvagni.

Levi Casboult might leave just as he finally learnt to kick straight but they have hidden the younger Silvagni away who reports say he is another Daniher who will be an elite KP father and son selection and 10 times better than his brother who is a promising kid. They need to add some more mids but they already have god small forwards in Petrevski Seton and Pickett.

They have Cripps who is elite and then guys like Zac Fisher who should be god. They just need 2 years of grabbing the best mids they can get with their high picks and they should be an excellent list with a few old boys right at the end and a good experienced under team.

To me them and Brisbane have looked at our plan and copied it but did it in a period with out GWS and GC stealing all the talent. We look a little more rough and scrappy but effective. We are the anti GWS, we earn every possession and have to work for every win.

Yeah I hear ya -- they'll need to do something about their forward line quick smart though and also, not sure it worked out the best for Juddy in terms of on-field, that trade. Prone to a badly sprained heartstring the Blooze, they'll also want Kruezer to stay fit -- maybe we can trade them Hickey as insurance and they can send us Docherty or Curnow.

Good post. But a year is a long time in football and half those names you've mentioned could be spuds in 12 months. We'll see.

Interesting point about the rebuilds and how ours currently sits. Desperately need the silk that's for sure.

The talk of a gun Silvagni boy being a gun burns me.

Robbo done, Gilbo will be done in next 1-2 weeks, Joey still no contract....Will there be an announcement this week?
Sounds great MG !
I would like Monty to get a year. Great experience and a good back up if needed. Apparently Richo rates his footy brain highly.

The Australian reporting North have offered Dusty 1.5m x 7.
I'm glad we had the nous to trade picks down for more lesser quality players over the years. Really, North need more than one player. If they get Dusty it could kill the club for ten years.

Great news, saw Robbo & Roo hugging after the game i knew then Robbo was in for the long haul, Gilbo has earned himself a contract has been VG this year, i think Joey will be at the club either as a player or coaching ranks as his experience & respect among est the younger brigade can't be underestimated.

We are one bad mistake (Port) out of being in the top 8. It's not that hard to believe that a bit more improvement from a group of 21/22 year olds is going to be the difference between us playing finals is it?
We are one bad mistake against Port from being in the eight and desperately trying to hold out Melbourne, West Coast and the Bulldogs with a must win against the Tigers this week. Same problem different perspective.

What we needed to do this year was win one against Melbourne, knock off Essendon AND pinch the Port game.

I'm struggling to come to terms with the fact that if we are going to make finals in 2018 we are not only going to have to rely on improvement from incumbent best 22 players. But rather we are going to need one, maybe two at the very minimum, fringe players or a debutant to suddenly become AFL standard if we are seriously going to challenge without bringing in a gun.

That falls somewhere on the spectrum of doubtful to hasn't got a shit show in hell.

We 100% need improvement. We 100% need an elite ready made player.

Agree with that . If we do miss on Kelly and go the the draft does anyone know if the mids available at pick 7 & 8 will be ready to play straight away and can help our team improve in 2018 ? Eg McGrath Sam pp.

Since 2012 Norf have brought in a few decent (one horrible) free agents, Missy, Dal, Nahas and Waite.

Their traded in players have been Ahern, Jacobs, Gysberts, Anderson, Hrovat, Williams,

Oh, and lets not forget Ray Farren.

Fair to say they have a long way to go.

Their fans may not have long memories but I'm sure potential players remember how they treated 4 champs last year.

Either way you look at it they are a long way away from any sort of finals action.

A player the ilk of Jelly or Dusty will just turn them into the Judd let Carlton of the next decade.

Their supporters were mostly kids when they were successful, they aren't used to playing the irrelevant lowly team - they want a win, but winning any of these targets will be a loss for them. Instead of 1.5 on one player, they need to build their list with 3 500k players. They are after a quick fix to save face, its embarrassing.

The sooner they relocate to Tassie the better.
