I’ve always liked Dunstan, I copped a fair bit earlier in the season when most people were saying he only was getting a game because he had photos of Richo , joke of course. There weren’t too many sticking up for him then back then . But I have also said bad things about Longer so you don’t always get things right .
This is what I love about you Brains... despite everything in life, you always front up and are positive and reasonable.

Respect.

This is honestly music to my ears because I have said before and will say again the biggest improvement will be internal development from players already on our list

Good signs early from the saints

Agree. Lets get. We need arrogant selfish campaigners.

So sick of our goody two shoes running into an open goal and instead of kicking it, does the unselfish thing and tries to hand it off.

Cost us multiple goals this year. More Greene like campaigner less, hand it off for a point.
tbh if Bruce is running into an open goal i'd prefer he tries to hand it off

You mean like how Carlton ditched Rattan to bring in the man to take them to a premiership? That worked well. ;)
Or the way Collingwood ditched Malthouse to make sure they got the best coach in Buckley , you know Eddies mate .

There is nothing wrong with the our kicking.

There's plenty wrong with how stuffed our guys are when taking a shot at goal.

Either they aren't fit enough or the gameplan is too strenuous. (Maybe both?)

No matter how much kicking coaching you've had....technique goes out the window when your legs are jelly and your heart is beating out of your chest at 200bpm.

If we had Sloane at the last stoppage against Port, we win. Simple. Oozes leadership and kicks goals.

Dunstan did show some promise towards the end of the year and it would be sad to see him go but the chance to get a top 5 player is too good to miss.

Pick 8 and Dunstan for Sloane is a win/win.
There are other players apart from Dunstan who could be traded . If he was at another club we would probably be after him .

Probably helps to explain why we haven't played finals for 6 years now.
It's also the "lost years" as the media called it......from several articles written back around 2013/2014.

There were 2 or 3 years where none of our draft picks were still on the list......which left a gaping hole in the middle of our list demographic.

Credit to the club for making the conversion a priority. But it's not just the set shots. It's where they're being taken from due to how ******* poor the ball movement is
Would love to see the stats for this. I reckon most of our misses come from a 45-60 degree angle from goal. It isn't the ones on the boundary that have infuriated us all season. It is the ones we expect to be kicked.

There is everything wrong with our kicking... Using tiredness is just a cop out when other teams play the game as hard as we do and can actually convert better.

Always rated Dicko when it came to goal kicking and his general football knowledge so thumbs up from me on this recruitment.

No ******* way would I change the Port game.

That was probably the best way for our boys to learn that you have to play to the siren in every game, probably the best thing to happen for the rest of the year.

The immediate next week we closed out the West Coast game so much better.

I haven't paid a lot of attention to Smith and only recently looked his 2017 stats. I hadn't heard him linked with us, so didn't read too much into it. So us being linked to him popped out of nowhere, which shows Ameet and co. have been quiet but are scheming things.

I have no doubt if he nominates us he'll mention the prospect of more midfield time; even though half of Twitter seem to think he is only a small forward haha.

Rate his stats on a number of things. He averaged 18.5 disposals, 4.9 tackles and 1 goal a game. But only kicked goals in 50% of his games, with highs of 3. Racked up to 9-11 tackles in some games and found the ball up to 26 times.

I can see him being a solid 23 disposal, 5-6 tackle a game player who can kick 20-25 goals for us. Yes, a bit arrogant sounding but I don't mind having a few blokes with a bit of campaigner about them. Just gotta use it the right way.
In GWS'a early years, Smith played a fair bit through the middle and was very impressive

True.
But it can't do any harm either!

Carlton are seemed to be front runners for Smith due to their GWS connections.

Collingwood also up there due to Smith being good mates with Taylor and was also coached by Buckley in his Jnr days.

We are probably behind the 8 ball because of this, but what we can offer him is more midfield time, a good contract and we are obviously closer to the eight than the other two.

Hes leaving supposedly for opportunity, should probably go to Carlton.

He shouldn't be going to Collingwood.
