The two areas GWS are deficient in, we are stocked in. If GWS want a ruckman or a small forward, they know where to find us. If playing 'hard ball' were an Olympic sport, Dildoro would be an Olympic Legend, but i reckon Ameet has picked up a few things along the way. #sensei#tomlinson

That would be a massive risk in my opinion. For one, who's to say Carlton may not make a decent jump next year? Secondly, you're throwing in a future 2nd rounder which is very valuable. The deal essentially moves us up 4 places in the draft, but we giver up the 7-8 in succession and a future second, and take a risk on Carlton being average next year. Don't like that one sorry.
But Carlton could also shoot up the ladder, leaving the trade disastrous. I'd prefer we don't gamble in this manner. If we are trading for futures, we need to assume the worst like with the Hawks trade.
We are nearing the end of the draft rebuild, I want quality over quantity. Risky of course, yet I don’t see Carlton making huge steps next year and their improvement will be offset by those above improving as well, North, Collingwood, Freo and Hawks they could pass but no more imo.
Talking to a few mates who watch regular u18 footy reckon the top 3 mid / mid hybrids stand out considerably this year
2 of which would take LDU with pick 1. Draft picks are a gamble but this year seems likely you will
Get a 200 gamer with a top 3 pick and maybe a 50/50 strike rate at 7 + 8 plus you have 2 likely top 10 picks in next year strong draft.
Move up to get a gun plus another top 10 pick for next year is worth the risk IMO mainly due to weakness of this years top 10 and the strength of next years. Would ideally like to keep the 2nd rounder.

Now, would you trade that pick 1 for GC's next year first rounder.

That will most likely be bottom 3 and we can potentially get Izak Rankine.

Very very risky business trading for a potential 17 year old but hmm I have heard both on here and from a Xavier College staff member that Rankine and this SA forward would already be picks 1/2 of this draft
If the Club traded Pick 1 for a future pick I think Moorabbin would be burnt to the ground....and rightly so. Crazy talk IMO

As Ameet has said, our default position is strong. Were not chasing a huge fish ..and we have 7/8 in the bank.

Sit back with those and let other Clubs come to us. Someone who IS chasing a particular player *cough*O'Meara last year*cough* and could use our pick(s) can come to us with a Godfather offer.

Bring it on.

Collingwood and Freo will be big improvers this year butnorth still hav further to sink .. i wouldnt count on Carlton being bottom 3 again next year .. they are just starting to get games into their kids so ill be suprised if they are not sitting where we were last year next year ...

Shockers at 7 or 8 since 2005

Jarrad oakleigh-Nicholls
Rhys palmer
Ty vickery
Jon butcher
Sam Mayes
James aish
Paul Ahern

We should talk to Geelong about who to draft - bartel, Mackie, Selwood all 7 of 8
If we draft there.....
Sam Mayes goes alright and Ahern has shit knees. 7 out of 24 busts isn't too bad though anyway. Rhys Palmer is a funny one, he was pretty good early in his career but limped to his 120th game at his third club and looks delisted at season end. JON is the reason that referring to Terry Wallace as anything remotely positive to do with drafting is a joke.

Josh's manager is the one that was just appointed list manager at Collingwood isn't he?

Edit: yes Schache managed by 'McDonald Sports management' which is (new list manager) Ned Guy's place.

Move along, nothing to see here....

Liam Pickering was going off about the conflict of interest on the radio on the weekend but everyone else seems to not care. It's a disgrace. Especially after Gubby Allen getting a dodgy job in the treloar trade.

Yeah they should both improve and North look shaky. You wait until Essendon get handed the most friday night games and a fixture that guarantees them finals. They will umpire them to a win in the GF and we will have to endure the brave crap again and James Hird will get his life membership and a statue. The AFL is a quality organisation.

I'm not interested if it's future picks, we need good young talent through the door now, not next year
I'd happily take someone's 1st pick in the '18 draft.

Especially a team that may overrate their prospects in 2018 & could deliver a top 5 pick

I understand that we could get a deal similar to the hawks one where we come out on top overall, but in my opinion I think it's important for us and where we're at to bring in elite talent now rather than spreading it out even more. For on field and off field reasons (fans)

I can see this absolutely happening what with every club rating each potential trades value at a first rounder. Ameet and Co. will be sitting back and come in at the death looking for the most desperate club.

No idea if true but got some gossip that we could be involved in a trade with Carlton and a few other clubs.

Something like this; we'd give up picks 7,8,Hickey for pick 3, carltons 2018 first and a pick around 25-35. Hickey wouldn't be going to Carlton, 3-4 clubs involved apparently. Again could all be bs but thought id pass this along.

It's a fair point. I like the deals when we keep getting free stuff, who doesn't, but when do we stop putting the 1st round back a year.
