They are probably top 4 next year, no way I'd do that.
nah i cant see that ... top 8 yes but top 4 nah .. ill expect the top four to not change much next year GWS will still be up there Geelong with GAJ will be up there , swans without the deadduck start will be up there and the Crows and tigers fight for the last spot ...

If thats legit we make out like bandits
I'd be surprised if there was legs to this (no offense Allsainters66).

IMO we'd substantially winning the trade even it was Picks 7, 8 and Hickey for Pick 3 and next years' first for Carlton.

If next year's pick for Carlton is Pick 6 that values Hickey at ~790 picks, which roughly at Pick 24 which is about even, but it allows us to trade up in a draft (this one) where picks after 3 nominally have less value than usual, and two picks in a 'super draft'.

If Carlton finish 15th it gives us Pick 4 and values Hickey at Pick 16 which is absurd overs.

If they somehow get a second rounder thrown in for us too it will be a true Ameet special.

Not sure you can blame the Dogs fall from grace on bringing in Cloke. Especially when he didn't play a lot of footy. They had some issues within the club.

I also think people get too caught up on trying to look just like the premiership team from the year before. Every winning team is different.

In saying that, I still think Paddy needs to shed some kegs and improve his endurance, but I'm happy with our decision to take him at one.
Legs seem to be disappearing..!!armit
Brisbane have a couple of ruckmen, they wouldn't be interested in Hickey you wouldn't think
armo on the other hand.....

No idea if true but got some gossip that we could be involved in a trade with Carlton and a few other clubs.

Something like this; we'd give up picks 7,8,Hickey for pick 3, carltons 2018 first and a pick around 25-35. Hickey wouldn't be going to Carlton, 3-4 clubs involved apparently. Again could all be bs but thought id pass this along.
Fmd SOS would be on the cans if he agrees to this.

Sounds like something out of the crazy Vossy playbook

If we ended up with pick 3 this year and a potential top 5 pick next year that would be a stupendous result. Getting an additional pick in the 25-35 range this year would make it even better.

Very highly unlikely to happen though!

Definitely overs, but it would need to be for us to even consider it. Otherwise we keep 7 and 8. The 4 pick upgrade is essentially twelve months worth of 'interest' on the pick, loss of development etc.

Suppose it all depends on how desperate Carlton are for Schache and how much they value bringing forward the development of the other draftee.

It really grates on me when I hear commentators like Matty Lloyd proposing trades that are clearly in favour of their ex club. It smacks of EFC using any leverage it has within the MSM to create fear that they hope finds some traction in social media and puts pressure on other clubs to accept unders.
If our clubs are put under pressure from media commentators then they shouldn’t be doing the job. I really doubt that they would give two hoots about them

I just want us to start bringing in talent now, we can't keep putting it off for another 12 months

As I said, I don't know if its true and it does sound a bit one sided. I guess the trade would look something like this:

St Kilda:
Give: Pick 7,8,Hickey
Recieve: Pick 3, Carltons 2018 1st Rounder, Brisbane 2017 Second Rounder

Carlton:
Give: Pick 3, 2018 First Rounder
Recieve: Schache, Pick 8

Brisbane:
Give: Schache, Brisbane 2017 2nd Rounder
Recieve: Pick 7, Hickey

Probably need to swap the 2nd round pick from us to Carlton

i think carlton and brisbane would be able to get the schache deal done on their own given they have a mid ranged pick
Agree, Brisbane could quite easily accept Carlton's next years pick. Would be reliant on them demanding a pick in this years draft and Carlton still wanting a a high pick this year. If that scenario posted had Carlton getting a second round pick to give GWS for Kennedy I think it works.

No worries, not doubting what you've heard at all. But jeez, if Carlton are willing to go that you'd have to think they rate themselves to finish as high as say, 11 or 12 to cash in on that type of trade. If so, you have to wonder where their footy department's head is at, can't imagine them making that kind of jump.

What if we were nearly certain that player will be better long term and maybe at the start of his career. Again I will trust the experts who say next years draft is clearly better than this year.
