I’ve figure this mullarky out.
If Naish doesn’t get bid on until after pick 17 we need a maximum of 788 (pick 18).
We have leeway to hold two extra picks if we decide to go to a 38 man roster.
The minimum pick we need to match is 46 (4 points short).
Therefore, we need to:
- Make trade out one player for pick 46 or better
- delist at least one more player
- Use picks 15 and 17 on KPPs if the decent ones are available
- Match any Naish bid using our 3 late picks
- if Naish bid is later in the draft we may retain a pick in the 50s, we need to decide if we should draft a player with this pick (I.e. Graham type) or whether we go with 2 extra rookies
- We then need to decide whether we rookie list the players we delisted.
Realistic Scenario
Miles to GC for 39
Delist Drummond
Use 15 and 17 on KPPs
Naish bid at 22, 648 points owed; 39 and 52 cover points, 52 moves to 69/70
Use 55 on best available
Pass on 69/70
Re-rookie Drummond
One other rookie pick
39/5 list distribution
