Scott did say on the radio this morning that it's time to get more ruthless with the list, that you're much more likely to hang on a year too long than to cut a player too soon.
Yeah I found that part interesting as well and there is little doubt in my mind we have fallen into this mindset trap over the years.

Saad will only return to Victoria to play for Carlton. And thats if Gold Coast let him go.
Strong ties to the Blues and cant see him committing to any one else.
We would have to pay him overs to come to North and for a rebounding defender its not worth it.

Move on peoples.

Glad to read we're getting a bit more ruthless with our list. Mullet will find a home elsewhere I imagine, it is pretty slim pickings for buyers and a quick, decent kick that can roost it from 55 metres out will attract some interest. Some of you guys seem to have forgotten how poor his defensive work was though. Picking up some 2018 draft currency would be more than welcomed.

I'm assuming (and hoping) that means we won't be hanging on to Thomas, Swallow (and even Thompson, Goldy or Waite) as well.

I very much doubt it.

More likely, he's had a good season, but topped out at "useful squad player you can depend on as plan B". Didn't do much wrong and this is probably our last chance to extract anything for him in a trade, as another contract would see him into free agency. There are also players pushing up - Marley, EVW, Hibberd, maybe they're confident in Wright after his latest surgery, maybe they want to run Wags or Jed as a small defender. Fishy's almost the definition of a player you can roll over to a developing replacement without losing much.

Shame if true. He's done well and is a nice bloke.
Shame the board wasnt more ruthless on the coach.
