I bet we can offer him more than Sydney could..

Digressing, how the hell is Geelong getting Ablett, Stringer and Smith with their first pick at 20?!
What Dangerfield says Dangerfield goes. He tells the AFL to make it happen...it will happen. Forget JK as they will get him too....unless you ask a Saint who will refer to Google Maps.

Because it suited the League to have Brisbane finish last. :Gilligan's Eyeball
And Gil can visit bne without his man that carries the swishing riff-raff-away stick.

There is also powerful magic at play at the Yarra. Gil turns from worthy gent into entitled and arrogant tosser as soon as he crosses north.

Afl needs a Fitzgerald inquiry.

That afl exist in the media industry along with the bachelor and housewives and the news ( on which football is always scheduled around on free to air).

Would like to see the clubs run the League. It is not a league now but a company.
The afl is an incompetent bureaucracy designed to multiply managers that have people underneath them.

Go to the draft. Though without good coaching it is like buying a scratchy.

We all know this is a game of luck more than it is of passion for clubs as a whole

Our injuries over last two years! No pressure from under. Own vfl team next year. Five stories of cafes planned to be built on the Arden street basketball courts with extending arms.

Don't get anyone. Go to the draft. Make them our own. We have a great list.

Go the Roos

Josh Kelly is a fool. Seriously mismanaged our badly advised or.... Look in the mirror and give the two offers to yourself. Unless his grandfather is a mining magnate. Don't want such a fool in two years if he hasn't done five hamstrings or three knees in that mean time. Just dumb. No shining light loyalty in it. His father may have said ' you make the decision and we will support whatever you do'. Just speculating at more dumbness. Really?

Either way, go to the draft. That is where the money is for little cost but development. Dusty was a f/a so would have only cost money. Kelly is a skillful player that is a fool when it comes to reality. A 22 year old gambling millions! Paul Connors being derelict in his duties.

Or more likely: gws refusing to trade with us?
Money meaningless then for Kelly as it is only in abstract.

Draft and develop wins in the transient end as it should

Free agents = give money
Guns = give money and stay picks / players

Poor sod Kelly obviously wanted to come to us

Take no one. Trade for picks. We spend a lot of money that is better spent on talent identification than managers cuts off of big contracts.

Again, go the Roos

We need to start turning some of our gun recruits into a Kelly or a Martin, we can't have everyone we recruit end up B-grade. We can't rely on other clubs to develop talent.
You are underestimating the raw talent and overestimating the development factor.

Peter Bells and Brent Harvey's aren't slipping down the draft order like they once did.

We either go to the bottom of the ladder to attain the missing elements or we grab it from under the noses of other clubs. Development alone is not going to bridge the gap and fill the hole.

I think our development of players has been excellent, considering the observed outcomes against the draft pick ratings.

We should have a crack at Aaron Hall. Contracted, but I reckon he'd be gettable. Tassie boy too
I'm ok with Aaron hall.
No way should we give up pick 4 or 21 for him. Especially at his age demographic.
We need to work some magic with pick 21 and hopefully we find a way to trade this pick 21 and perhaps a player to move up in the draft. I'd be a very happy camper if after trade period ends we have 2 picks inside 15...

They got to you Tef?

Crows haven't wallowed around the early draft picks at all. We got Ben Brown, Kayne Turner, Hibberd, Mountford Larkey to name a few have all arrived via later picks.

I've noticed some comms coming out of the club of late exonerating results because of a 'lack of talent'. Strikes me as a bit of a cop-out.

We were good enough to beat pretty much everyone in the top 8 in 2014 which suggested we had comparable talent but couldn't finish the job. Ditto 2015 to a lesser extent.

It's quite funny looking at the contrast between adelaide and carlton/melbourne when you look at draft picks/success rate

Id think his price would have been 21 a couple of years ago when we last asked about him but its definitely slipped after this year. He gets quite a few soft tissue injuries and i believe has a nagging knee issue that he manages and is always strapped up.

I think he could be a star in Melbourne but i think hes a pick 25 - 30ish at the moment. I think comparisons with what we got for Levi are valid given Levi finished equal 2nd in our B&F the year before he was traded and Hall just finished 5th in Gold Coasts.

I would be hopeful we could somehow send Andrew to finish his career with his brother and help turn that ship around up there to help us get Hall

I'm not necessarily talking about Harvey/Bell type of development, just a good enough spread of talent with good ball use that justify spending your salary cap on them and I am largely talking about players taken thereabouts in the first three rounds rather than extreme long-shots.

If you look at the players teams like Geelong, Hawthorn, Swans and Adelaide have taken by comparison, especially with players taken later than our picks, they have done a much better job of developing players than we have.

Is it recruitment? Is it development?

The pattern I have noticed is that we have often opted for someone who slid and overlooked someone who we thought would be around our pick and we have often looked at a flanker and attempted to develop them into a different role which has never worked out for us.

However, we have had a good amount of talent and we have only had a handful of players who are delivering to the potential of where they were recruited, ie Cunnington has worked out well, it isn't his fault the club has congested our midfield with potatoes.
