The 2 years of constant speculation will be unbearable.
In context of his age and 2 year contract, he has done the right thing in light of the offer we made to Dusty. On his current career trajectory he'll be worth a lot more than the contract he turned down, plays finals for a couple of years before GWS start dropping off by which time, North should have brought in and developed more talent. Really just keeping his options open, and what happens in 2 years time is anyone's guess.

There can be only one...
Essendon will need more picks to get those players in & I would be comfortable trading pick 21 for Aaron Francis , a very talented kid who hasn't reached anywhere near the heights he's capable of .
Lesson 1: Never willingly attempt to trade with Essendon or Port, unless you have nothing better to do for the entire trade marathon.

Seriously....?

Simpkin, Ahern and Anderson all well an truly have their heads screwed on. All are really intelligent and articulate gentleman who do not need LT filling a spot on the list just to mentor them. If anything LT needs mentoring...his 2017 season was deplorable!! The suspensions under the circumstances and where his career was at were inexcusable.

LT has been a tremendous servant of the club, and valuable member of the 2014 & 15 finals campaigns and whilst contracted has no viable or useful future at NMFC. He’s contracted, so he’ll probably be at NMFC in 2018, but with Charlie Cameron looking at moving there is a glimmer of hope that he might be a ‘stop gap’ player for the Crows and we can move him on.

you have no idea the possitive influence LT has on the whole club.

he was suspended twice this year, one was bad, the other one was somethings that no one else has ever been suspended for.

yep he had a horrid year, but so did a number of our players, hence where we ended up.

we’ll agree to disagree, and if LT wants to move on for more ops, great, if not he will be a very respected part of our team.

teams still getting compo picks for free agents is a blight on the game. Oh you cant fit someone in your salary cap, here you got have a draft pick and go in front of teams that rightfully deserve a pick, such a joke
In theory it is a good system, however, it is poorly executed.

The AFL has an incentive to keep the competition even, so they want every club to have a competitive list. Take us for example, we lost Wells as a free agent who was offered 500k or so but we haven't been able to sign on anyone else, that cap space atm is useless to us and being unable to replace him (and other retirees) means we are weaker on-field and a bottom 4 club. That isn't good for us, isn't good for the AFL either.

What I do believe though is that the system should be more complete and factor free agents, trading, etc to determine if a list becomes weaker, especially weaker over a long period of time and opportunity when it comes to drafting, compensation for lost players, etc is balanced up.

AFL is giving the players extreme control in terms of who and were they play and that can significantly destabilise clubs depending on who moves where. Clubs have very limited means to replace good players.

Cameron wants to be near family...I guess the 800k per year he's been offered isn't the reason then...
That is ridiculous money. He is a very good player but also surrounded by very good players, he ain’t a star mid. Crazy money

I agree in principle, but it starts to stink when players break a contract to chase a better cash offer.
The bit I don't like about it is that the Crows will get a speculative pick in return when they're in a premiership window.

Clubs should start demanding a player of equal value. As an example:
Cameron for Lewis Taylor
Lever for Petracca
At least then the window can stay open

It will never happen though.

$800K!?

There's going to be some talented youngsters at Brisbane that will be ripe for the picking in a year or two if that is the case.

I'm leaving the country if that happens with those *
Funny though could be a fair amount of truth in what you say. ****** hate those cheat *
Get a grip ladies and gents! Is only ' speculation week'. Dodoro rates all their players and future draft picks as once in a generation. A lot of dicks in the wind right now. And Devon Smith and stringy and sad make * unbeatable! Hrmmph to close to the highest degree

Good on him.

I don't understand why it's seen as a bad thing for players to leave for money.
The problem is players leaving halfway through a contract blaming the old "go home factor" as the reason. When a player moves under contract it should be for the same amount per year until the contract is up when they can then renegotiate.

Tom Boyd to WB and Paddy Ryder to port are examples of leaving for big coin while contracted and blaming it on another reason.
