So based on the podcast, I think we will throw the kitchen sink at Tom Lynch, both first round picks and Miles.
If that doesn't come to fruition or gets blocked we will shift our focus to Schache who sounds very gettable.
If we win a final/multiple finals/the premiership this season, that would assist in the Tom Lynch pursuit, but would also lead to the AFL potentially blocking the move.
What Tiger71 said about the cap space was what I was thinking as well.

If Lynch/Schache don't happen, I can see us going for Trengove as a FA and trading both our first round picks this year for a first round pick next year.

Fair to say I'm happy I took annual leave for the trade period this year.

Love to get him. Stack the list with quality. We must be able to get him at the right price.
He'll want a stupid amount of money which we don't have and the dogs will want a stupid trade which we wont want to give. He'll end up at Brisbane, #Go North!, St Kilda or some other irrelevant club

Very interesting. He is a very good player at the top of his game, but the difference between his best and his worst is rather Griffiths like.

Would be handy to rotate with Dusty through the midfield.

Wouldn't hate it, that's for sure. I still think first priority needs to be a Lynch or a Schache type.

I agree. We need a KPF but Stringer is a handy type. Good target forward despite his height and gives us another midfield rotation. We need to get Lynch or Schache or someone in the short term.

Trengove not good enough to get a game at PA. he's no good. Stringer is talented and would improve the list.
Depends on who else is available and what we'd have to give up. One of our first rounders?

no need for more talls. townsend a better ff than the likes of lynch and watts. only one we should potentially target is big boner brown for the #Go North! factor

just recruit more midget forwards get them on ralph carr's books and slowly farm them out to other clubs when we need to trade someone in. otherwise get some more mids in to play with miles in the vfl until we need them

Lynch - Won't happen
Schache - If he leaves, likely
Stringer - Would be cool but I can see Go North! or essendon throwing the sink at him
Trengove - spud
Lynch .. won't happen
Schache .. just another Vickery.
Stringer .. worth investigating.
Trengove .. expensive spud that would not improve our list.

Anything involving CROATIA & M.City
With Lynch we need to make a pre-lim bare minimum for him to consider a move. After that we then have Caddy and Prestia to hopefully make the decision a little easier.

Im not sure our 2 first rounders and Miles does it though. If he nomonates us than maybe and hopefully the Prestia trade and us paying a little overs helps.

If the AFL blocks it I will juast about lose what little faith I have with this sport and be officially done.

This is a bit from left field and I'm just throwing thoughts around. What about Gary Ablett Jr (and their 3rd rnd) for Geelongs first rnd pick we have.

With this we get a player who would make our midfield unstoppable (imagine Ablett, Dusty and Cotch in the same team) and their third rnd pick will help with the bid for Naish.

I'm not sure why it appears that Abletts move to Geelong is looking unlikely. But if it's because of Geelong not having anything to trade or salary cap to entice GC to trade him while contracted then we should see if he's interested. Obviously his preference would be Geelong, but Melbourne is so close to Geelong he may be willing to compromise if his choice is to either retire or continue to play for GC. The other plus would be to see Geelong getting all salty from this trade.

The concern over Ablett would be his injury history this year ( it could end up like a Delidio scenario) and his age (but we only would want him for a top up anyway for a shot at a premiership in the next couple of years).

Our forward line formula is good but missing another tall to help Jack. Callum Moore is developing nicely, tall, fast, good in the air and on the deck, can help ruck but will keep us mobile. Baxck him in as his athletic traits are rare. No lumbering types, Casboult etc. We have backup ruck with Soldo, Griff, Hampson, none of whom will be delisted, so why sell our draft picks for a maybe.... unless we can snare a gun.

Let's say a guy at work has cancer. He's not a mate, but of course you feel sorry for the guy. His surgeon offers to cut it out, but only if he can put it into your otherwise healthy body to see what happens. What do you say?

Pick 16/17 and Lennon for Stringer?
Pick 17/18 and Miles/C.Ellis for Schache
Are you saying one late first rounder and a VFL player? I don't think either of those deals gets done. Stringer was drafted at #5 (from memory, he would have gone higher but he had suffered a broken leg) and Schache at #2. I don't think either of them have gone that far backwards.

Both players are contracted. Their clubs aren't giving them up unless they can sell it to their members - that means a high price at the trade table.

Cheers.
