Schache - seems like a sook.
Trengove - do not like, on big money and not worth it.
Stringer - is good but we have plenty of small forwards.

The needs are a tall fwd and a ruck

I'd be investigating other clubs that have developing rucks. Soldo is OK but I wouldn't be putting all my eggs into that basket.

We might be able to fulfill these needs in the draft and try and get back into the 2nd round. Lennon and 3rd for a 2nd or Miles (who I'd prefer to keep but he'll probably be looking for opportunity elsewhere)

All this depends on whether the club thinks Griff will be back next year and whether Hampson's body doesn't fall apart (likely) as to whether we need ready made or can get youth in the draft and develop.

Why are people talking about Tom Lynch? The AFL just came out and as good as said he's not leaving.

Think Dusty's decision was hard? I'd guess Lynch can stand in the goal square for the next 5 years and earn an extra $3.5m compared to any other offer ($500k in AFL marketing money plus $200k in additional cap money). That's a lot of money to be a big fish in a little pond.

I expect he'll leave himself enough time to exercise free agency and join a team in the premiership window at the end of his career (ala Brian Lake) for minimal money.

Cheers.

Would we entertain this? I don't think he fills a need.

Stringer is such a talent the club would be neglecting its duties not to be looking. Only Dusty and Danger have more power out of congestion. But his attitude stinks, and from what T71 said work rate is non negotiable at the club, as it should be.

It's a risk and one I'm happy for the club to take if they believe in his attitude, as a 60/40 forward/mid rotating with Dusty we'd be scary.

More a mid sized forward than a small. Imagine being able to swap Dusty and Stringer out of a pocket always having one down there

That said i'm not sold on Stringers attitude. Seems a very selfish type which im not sure is the type of player we want to be bringing in.

Lynch is the dream, very hard to see it materialising

Schache is absolutely worth a go depending on the price, is a lot better than what he has shown this year.

Stringer's price both in salary and trade will probably be too high, and I'm not sure how well he fits into our pressure at all costs forward line.

Trengrove is a good defender and an very average forward, pity we need him for the latter.

The AFL have said they'll pay him if he stays and 500k is an awful lot but moving to a big Melbourne club also increases his marketability and helps him increase revenues outside of footy.

If he came to us, pies, bombers or blues and won a premiership he'd make more over his lifetime then staying at GC and taking 500k extra a year.

Plus the ultimate goal in footy is to win a premiership, GC will not win one in his time. He could quite conceivably decide that he'd rather a premiership over cash and he is not the only player to make that choice. It's not like he won't be on over a mill a year in Melbourne anyway.

It's really a question of whether you play football as a job or for the love of the game. If Lynch is chasing Premiership success and a successful career Richmond would be an attractive proposition.

We are not doing ourselves any harm by retaining Dusty and selling out finals. Even if we had the Dusty money we wouldn't have got Lynch with $$$ it's all about success and brand.

Stringer would depend on price and role.

Imagine if you could get him going in the midfield and rotate Dusty and Stringer, however at the same time that is Caddy's role.

I would probably prefer a Josh Schache/Rockliff option. Never been huge on Rockliff as I think he gets nothing possies but he is at worst another B+ mid along with Prestia (I think can be A grade) and Caddy.

With Lynch we need to make a pre-lim bare minimum for him to consider a move. After that we then have Caddy and Prestia to hopefully make the decision a little easier.

Im not sure our 2 first rounders and Miles does it though. If he nomonates us than maybe and hopefully the Prestia trade and us paying a little overs helps.

If the AFL blocks it I will juast about lose what little faith I have with this sport and be officially done.
In all honesty if we don't win the big one this year then the only way we can compete with a side like the Plastics while our window is open is with someone like Lynch.I'd do a pay structure that is opposite too Dusty.Start off "small" and once Cotch,Jack & Rance retire some of that money goes towards lynch so after 6yrs he gets what he,s currently worth.
To get him i would gladly give up this year 2 Firsts as well as next years and Miles with maybe a 2nd rnd pick back to us this year for Naish.

Some people seem to be unaware of the sizes of Callum Moore and Jake Stringer and what role they play. Both are 192-193cm, medium sized, 3rd forwards.
Others think a player's height alone determines his position. Moore has a great leap. He's a KPP. (Same height as Michael Roach and Nick Riewoldt, by the way.)
