2017 trade hypothetical thread

I posted on the Carlton thread to a mix response so wondering what others think of,

Jacob Weitering for Josh Kelly + Jacob Hopper.... Carlton might need to throw in some loose change but i would think it is an equitable trade that helps both clubs, particularly if Kelly & Hopper want out.

GWS says no.

Marc Murphy (+ 50 % of wages over three years) + 1st round 2018 for Josh Kelly.

De Goey's a beast but doesn't have the tank or explosive game of Beams. I honestly think Beams is a good comparison though as he can definitely work on those weaknesses. Hine picked the right kid to replace him.
Agree Beams is the highest paid player at the Lions and is yet to play 50 games for the Lions will be a millionaire next season looks like he'll be lucky to play 100 games 5 25 and Crisp for Beams is a huge win for Collingwood hopefully Beams takes a pay cut hasn't lived up to he's contract yet

We're pretty content with what we ended up with but a fit Beams is second to very few in the AFL.

The latest injury is hardly a case of his body failing him. Mumford's put a few blokes out on the sidelines with those bumps. They are perfect legal mind you, just so much force.

GWS would probably rather just take your two firsts. Think GWS would prefer someone else than Murphy anyway.

Wouldn't be nearly enough. Weitering isn't worth 3 first rounders.

For arguments sake, Josh Kelly is worth two firsts with maybe a late 2nd coming back, so a top 10 pick and one in the 12-16 range in the end.

Hopper is worth his draft position, he hasn't lost value.

Weitering + a future 1st is a bit closer with some late round swaps in your favour.

Even so, what a waste of a trade for Carlton, you need Weitering- more so than two mids.

Beams would be worth every cent if.

a.) Brisbane are challenging
b.) He stays on the park/durable

He's neither of those and it's not Brisbane's fault re 'b'. Beams is bona fida elite when up and running, - an A380 twin turbo jet.

Not everyone will take that hit and get a busted shoulder, Dayne Beams being an exception. All of his family have done ACL's, he's got a lot of good genes to make it to elite in AFL but the fragility of his and his brother Claye's body, they've been dealt a bad hand there.

If Claye stayed out of the Rocklea Tavern he might rehab a little better?

wait and see where there first but im guessing the blues would want a upgrade even tho I rate balic he is the most unproven

So GWS
Do you say yes to Pick 21 plus 2018 First Rounder for Devon Smith and Jacob Hopper

Crisp has turned potato like since his first year at Collingwood

I see it as a win-win.

Big No I'd think.
Hopper is still worth a pick around what he was drafted at. Can't see pick 21 and a late teens pick being enough for both

What's the go with Parish?

For some reason i've thought for months that he will go to the Lions and you'll replace him with Hopper or JJ or both or even something else.

It's sort of a combination of reasons. Him being keen on Brisbane and Matho and all their VC kids.

And from EFC pov, you've got 1 too many small mids i reckon. And them probably prepared to over pay you for him.

Could be win-win.

Keep hearing Parish will re-sign ASAP but I'd definitely look at trading him to the Lions for the right price if it helped us improve. Would love Hopper but JJ doesn't interest me in the slightest for what he would cost

I reckon Lions would trade their Pick 1 for him in their position. I don't think he is worth that. But i don't think that would be a bad trade for Brisbane, and a good trade for EFC.

Win - Win. I would have thought.

Unless he's not keen on going that is. I've just always had the feeling it would suit him though.

If they offered pick 1 you would definitely have a good hard think about it, I know I would

Lol why would we give up pick 1 for a player not getting games David Nobel isn't Peter Schwab my feeling is Port Adelaide's pick would be fair but Essendon probably wouldn't probably need to meet somewhere in the middle
