2017 trade hypothetical thread

Yeah we have no experience so I'd rather keep him. He's become a much better leader this year from all reportsand seems to want to stay so I don't love to keep him.

If he wasn't with us this year for example, the only experienced players on the ground every week who aren't absolute battlers on our side would be Rich, Zorko and maybe Martin. Need experience and older heads to help develop these kids.

GWS need a small forward next year.

GWS are in a position to draft for need and for premierships.

Would you take Puopolo and our second rounder in 2017 for a young mid? Setterfield or Whitfield? Or for a first round draft pick to Hawthorn?

I cant see Hawthorn trading away their 2018 first rounder for an unproven youngster.

On another note, could the Lions receive a PP if Rocklif goes via FA? Win/Win for two clubs.
Hahaha

Not really
We are entering a window of opportunity and one option is to look to recruit proven players to sure up any perceived gaps. That may lead to long term weakness and not an easy call I would think. Look at our list management history and we've always been open to recruiting these types of players, Mumford, Shaw, Griffen, Deledio last year obvious examples.

HairyO makes a valid point. From a player resource point of view the other option is retain and develop, particularly as our core group is maturing, and take picks to the draft where we cant to keep injecting new talent.
I suspect some sort of mix but we've tried a couple of times for Bruest and a player coming out of the Hawks system would not be a negative.
Hello good sir, i wish to have a moment of your time to tell you about almost premiership winning superstar Nick Suban...

Any interest in Michael Close from the Lions. Wouldnt cost much trade wise, and I'm a bit perplexed as to why he isnt getting a run in the seniors. A line seems to have been drawn through his name, yet in my view he is playing better football than he ever has. Richmond? Westcoast? Could at least be a stopgap while a high 2017/2018 draft pick develops?
I wouldn't mind him at Richmond for the right price as he's the type of tall lead up forward we need. Not sure about compensation though. Would probably look at Miles for Close and a 3rd as I reckon another experienced in and under would be perfect for your needs.

If you really want him, I reckon you get him for free. He will be delisted.

Certainly a possibility. We have to move on 2 or 3 talls across main and rookie lists this year for balance. I do however think he is a decent player and should be on a list next year.

Nick Graham to Hawthorn for 2018 2nd round pick.

Liam Jones to Bulldogs for two first round picks.

Free Agency really seems to have confused many in regards to player trading. Another one who would come for free after being delisted.

Players dont become delisted pre trade period

LOLOLOL! The Puopolo + 2nd rounder for Setterfield brightened my day. Poppy has kicked the same number of goals per game this year as Shane Kersten.

Suban + Sutcliffe + Sherridan + 3rd rounder = McLuggage

Don't despair Lions fans, we've got more spuds if three isn't enough...

You see it every year - spud + spud + crap pick = gun.

Yeah you do. Still hilarious each time. I especially like the people who ring up radio stations, give their name and then say their trades on air. Classic.

I am thinking of ringing in myself this year. Sutcliffe is from SA and McGovern is from WA -> straight swap.

OUT: Kelly, Pick 21

ADELAIDE:

I think it looks good but perhaps the Crows look a little short changed there

No way Bulldogs will do that.
