2017 trade hypothetical thread

How shit would pick one for Hopper, 2017 third and 2018 first be? Maybe another player like Kennedy instead of the third.
If it was 2 firsts and hopper or a first( 7-12) an early second and hopper. Point is hopper's value will be an early second rounder at the most imo

Very few options for Collingwood if we match then.... that's their only currency. They'd have to make it a huge offer to guarantee we get 1st round compo

OK. But the question was really aimed at what is his value to Collingwood if we match?

Totally agree. For the band to be that low I'd guess the offer is well within our wage structure

See above. The question was really aimed at what is his value to Collingwood if we match? What else do they have that is of value to Sydney? Their next pick is in the 3rd round.
Can't see pies sinking $800000 or more to get reid into the top 5% earners in the AFL. Band 2 max imo

I think that's the problem for us. He's definitely worth far more than a second to us, structure wise he's almost essential to us. We have no one else in our squad like him so we'd have to go FA hunting ourselves of draft for it. If we can't get end of 1st (which is where I think this draft drops right off) then I'd pay up rather than going to the draft/dart board in the second round
Does the swans have the cap room to match any bid made? Talk around town is your cap is pretty tight.

What would people trade for Puopolo?

Correct me if i'm wrong but he's been pretty average this year has he not?

Not getting any younger and only useful as the 'cream' to a club pushing for a premiership...maybe somewhat useful to GWS if they lose Stevie J and Deledio next year. Not many other top clubs atm need a player of his position...maybe Port and Saints.

His tackle numbers are at an all time high and his goal-kicking average is just below what it has been over the past few years which probably coincides with the ball not getting in their as much and in a messier style.
He's hasn't been an standout but he's still performing good. 'bout as good as previous seaasons

31 year old next season who only plays one position. honestly nothing. mark lecars offers more an at the same age. for a team looking for that type of player imo
he'll be 30 for all of next season. LeCras turns 31 next month. There's about 1 yr and 4 months between the 2. wouldn't call that the same age.
+ Puopolo plays alright through the midfield.

Betts is turning 31 in a few months and only plays one position. Is he worth nothing?

Paul Puopolo isn't a generational small forward with huge marketing benefits

Actually think he'd be useful at the Dogs. Lack that hardline forward pressure player that can kick goals. Honeychurch and Clay Smith used in that role and they are poorly skilled players. Good negative players but very iffy with ball in hand.

i agree. It's just when you use their age and only plays one position is really misleading.

ah dude he has 5 centre clearances for the Year an is averaging less stats an goals.. and your team is playing better without him.. he gets thrown in the middle as a last resort...

fools gold to think any club would want him. but has had a great career for someone who missed out getting drafted the first time..

Puopolo would be handy if your side is contending and lack that small forward. Don't think a side would bother otherwise. Solid 2nd rounder would get it done. He's probably worth more to Hawthorn than what they'd get in a trade.

Zak Jones - Happily give a first (preferably 2018)

Sam Reid - Late second/early third at best. Ask yourself what you would pay for Cam Pederson.

Poppy - Packet of Salt n Vinegar Chips. Might get a third from a club without any small forwards. But i doubt many clubs will offer more than a 1 year deal. MAYBE 2. And why would he walk away from the Hawks for that?

What would it take to get say Cunnington from North. I feel he would be a good fit for GC as they need ball winners.

First rounder would be around the mark or at least the starting point. GC's first would be about right.

Pick 4 ATM, wouldn't that be a bit high. What about two early seconds like 21, 22

Might get a few pick swaps back, but no, I think that's around the mark. The question is whether a Darcy Fogarty (for instance) would be better than trading for Cunnington. I'm not sure there, don't know where GC are targeting a finals tilt.

It isn't as if Cunnington has lost much value, and was a high selection in a very strong draft.

Yes true, I feel GC with a good run of injuries would be a finals team. Maybe a new coach helps, a player like Cunnington would help also

The other option is a future first then. Say you assume GC will improve then you have a future first as say pick 8-10. That would be better for GC I guess. However with a future first, you run a big risk especially if you are a bottom 8 side when you outlay it. We have seen what the Hawthorn one has done this year, Hawks are lucky that they have had some wins towards the back end making that future a pick 7-8 rather than pick 1.

Then swap that future pick with Freo's pick this season so we can draft Ian Hill next year before Carter gets bid on.
