2017 trade hypothetical thread

Pick 19 will get one and our 2018 1st would be enough to get the other. Lot of water to go under the bridge first though.

My point wasnt even that it was just that we wont trade pick 19 for ablett which we wont, anyone who thinks that is being illogical.
Anyone who thinks the suns should accept a pick after 40 for Ablett is being illogical.

What they think they should do is up to them.

But anyone who thinks any club should trade a top 40 pick for a 33yo who is frequently injured IS illogical.

If you think that Geelong will do that you didn't learn much from the geelong-richmond deledio negotiations last year.

If geelong trades such a pick it will be for a younger player not ablett.

I agree it is a bad trade.

Charlie Cameron is however an upgrade on Lewis Taylor.

Haha no. Not on output this year. Taylor has quietly put together a bloody good season. People just compare him to the Bont too much.

He signed a contract and took the money on offer, the Suns hold the whip hand in this scenario, and so they should.

FWIW I think he'll get to the cats next year but they're going to have to pay up to get him. There's not a snowflakes chance in hell that a pick 88 scenario is repeated as the goodwill does not exist with the Suns and GAJ
I don't think the suns have goodwill with anyone. Not a knock. who needs it.
Make Gary stay or Geelong pay up.
Get a 2nd for Matera. Package it up with Ablett for their first.

The Sydney Swans portion of that article is amusing. All want Tippett GONE !!! Thing is folks, he is contracted, so you have to find another club that is interested and willing to trade for him. Best of luck with that !!

Haha, he is a waste of money. Maybe we can get rid of him for something like the Swans First rounder + Tippett for a 3rd Rounder :P

Dogs trade Stringer for a first round pick, on trade it for Lever, use their 1st round this year and 1st next year and Webb to GC for Big tom....

Really ??? No first round pick, again. So at the moment you will have picks 19 and 33 in a shallow draft. Please tell us how you are going to land Smith or Hopper.

The R1 thing is correct but a little over expressed ... or original R1 is worth P16 atm ...hardly a huge difference between 16 and 19.

Cats would be silly to offer pick 80 and then walk away if it's rejected.

Ablett could play a big role in winning them a flag next year.

Suma you have been around a while... you know Geelong rarely play silly games etc. GC will know what we can and cant do before the trade period.and hopefully we will know what they want. I doubt we will try the p80 etc and walk , we will try to find some sort of accommodation... but talk of trading best22 players that have ten years to play ..just can see that happening without some sort of massaging. Maybe a fringe player with potential , maybe a late R2 or early R3... but I doubt it will be zero. It still might not be enough..and if thats the case , we will walk because this time ..its not all about Gary.

Ablett might be able to play a big role in 2018, and maybe 2019.. although going on his last 4 years ... the best we could hope for is around 25-30 games. Just how much is far for 30 games?

Carlton trades are the funniest from that article, just delusional muppets they are:

Bryce Gibbs to Adelaide for two first-round draft picks, then trade the two picks to GWS with Tom Williamson or Harrison Macreadie for Josh Kelly and Jacob Hopper.
- Robert Dyke, Melbourne Vic
Receive a first and third-round draft pick from Richmond in exchange for Levi Casboult.
- Jesse Horton, Riddells Creek

Well we got Danger for 13 and Dean Gore and he's the best player in the league, so I'm sure they'll figure something out.

Also believe that Geelong will lose Motlop and Menzel during free agency, so depending on how active Geelong are during free agency and the deals that Motlop and Menzel can get elsewhere, we could also get a pick or two as compensation.

Danger was R1 , R2 and Gore

Agree with your post. I reckon GC would be silly to turn down a late r2 or equivalent. And I think it's worth offering. Could be the difference between winning the flag.

You really do seem have an obsession with Carlton...i somehow find you slagging off Carlton in most threads even when not really related to us...you go out of your way to do it.

Pretty much every team had a ridiculous trade suggestion in that stupid article but of course you single out Carlton lol.

Holy shit this articles Dream Trades are hilarious:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-17/youre-the-list-manager-your-dream-trades

Apparently a "Dream Trade" for us would be:
Lewis Taylor, a third-round pick and Ryan Harwood for Charlie Cameron.
- Jacob Campbell, Officer Vic

So we'd downgrade Lewy, give away a fringe player AND a third round pick. Where do we sign!
Smith for your 2018 first rounder is even better - Hawthorn loves Smith for a lot of reasons but if pick 2 or 3 is being offered...

Richmond traded Deledio to GWS for Geelongs first round pick this year.Tigers won that thanks Geelong.
Ablett for 2nd rounder(19) if Geelong want him that is, and if they can fit him in their salary cap? He still has another year contract at the Suns.
