but i'd be happy as a dons supporter with that deal.

I think a problem Richmond has is that we're looking at Naish as a FS, but he's likely to be just after our firsts, and we don't exactly have a lot of points to pay for him (picks 50, 52 & 71 IIRC which wouldn't be enough is he goes early 20s), so securing a later pick would be useful, and if we can do that by shifting one of our firsts up, then bonus. (the point values of 15/17 & 10/27 are about the same BTW)

Of course, the more likely scenario is we do so with a trade for someone like Miles for pick 30-odd which would do the job, but hey, it's a hypothetical thread.

We need to go tall, and while I'd take others by preference, if they're already gone by then, then we should take a shot at Ballenden.

I also doubt you'd go for Naish....A smallish outside player isn't exactly what I imagine you're looking for.

Mind you, if we do some other deal, then a quiet word to that effect could probably help sweeten the deal a little.

The fact is that players aren't on an improving trend when they are 29 and returning from a knee injury.

Giving up twenty years of football for a few from another and maybe some from a draft pick just isn't a good deal for a team that won't achieve anything for a couple of years and has a full stable back anyway.

We don't have expectations so I'd rather see if we can find a player to get a decade out of.

Despite the fact that hardly anyone makes it 5 years, everyone gets described as a 10 year player.

Its also a stupid argument. Like you wouldnt trade Taberner and Balic for Buddy or Danger...

The real reason you shouldnt be trading Taberner is because McCarthy is nowhere near KPF ability.
