2017 trade hypothetical thread

Whatever. It's not important to our current discussion.

4 picks is stretching the limits, but let's say that does occur. You still need to factor in the bridge of time that involves ready to go talent leaving and new talent coming in that will need development. You also need to factor in player types. e.g. It doesn't look like your club will be picking up a Jake lever in this draft.

Why do you think out of a possible 3-4 first round picks we couldn't find another Jake Lever in 2 years time.
You gotta remember we got some good kids that havent had a chance due to the strength of our side this year (from previous drafts).

Our picks 12 and 18 for the Dockers picks 5 and 40 or the Pies picks 6 and 36?

Pick 5- 1878 points, pick 40 429 points = 2307.
Pick 6- 1751 points, pick 36 502 points = 2253.
Pick 12 and 18- 2253 points.

Do you have a player in mind that sits between 5/6 and 12?

My guess is Collingwood will be all over Brander with pick 6.

Dodoro has never been able to trade and now he thinks he can get 4 players in 1 trade period.. No point all these players nominating Essendon when Dodoro best and final will be so far below market value that the clubs will refuse to negotiate.

Following the SOS school of trading is he?

I am hoping for Luke Davies-Uniacke at one and then one of Jaidyn Stephenson/Andrew Brayshaw at 5-6, assuming Dow, Cerra and Rayner are gone which is highly likely.

If we keep pick 12 I will have everything crossed that Aiden Bonar is still on the board.

I am only guessing from thetrade tables. Brander will probably go at pick 6, and Ballenden is locked away at Brisbane. I don't see Lever level quality in Balta, but you may land Naughton. History suggests that Lever was an above the odds draftee.

Fair enough. I certainly don't underestimate your development department.

Who's the four??

Yep. I'm guessing LDU/Rayner at picks 1 & 2, with Dow/Stephenson at 3 & 4.

Brayshaw didn't handle the tag too comfortably on grand final day.

Okay. If StKilda keep both picks, I can see them using 7 or 8 on this bloke.

History will suggest that we almost always draft above the odds.

We dont necessarily need the same position to replace him.
We have Doedee who is developing nicely.

I dont know anything about the draftees so cant comment on what we'd be able to get, or would be looking at picking up.

SOS has never had a problem trading in players and getting deals done so the comparisons with Dodoro i am not sure fit??

Hasnt had a problem getting GWS rejects.
Did have a problem trying to get double Gibbs' worth last year.

SOS never wanted to trade Gibbs, so wasnt up to him to get a double. I think SOS played his cards perfectly.. Likely result will be that we got another year of service out of Bryce where he played exceptional football for CFC and then we will trade him to the Crows a year older, a year less on his contract for a similar amount to what you were offering last year. I would say a clear win for the blues.

He didn't really.
You had no use for Gibbs, you didn't go anywhere last year and now hes worth less.

How does that mean he made the right call?

9 teams??? Full points for creativity. Getting 9 clubs at once to agree to a deal seems unrealistic though.

This tells us everything we need to know.

You're clearly upset we didn't cave to your advances, and the above is just garbage.

He was one of our most important players in 2017, and will remain exactly that in 2018.

It's not really garbage.
You finished 3rd to last.
What use do you have for a non-leader 29 year old player?

Surely you know you're rebuilding right?
Or do you think you're in the window?

It's not really garbage.

Actually, it really is. Just complete and utter crap.

You finished 3rd to last.

That's correct - well done!

What use do you have for a non-leader 29 year old player?

Gibbs is 28, a part of our leadership group and one of our best and most important players.

Say as much to the contrary as you like, but you're wrong.

Surely you know you're rebuilding right?
Or do you think you're in the window?

I'll let this one slide because it's pretty clear I'd have more of an idea about where we're at and what we need than you do. Push this issue if you choose, but you'll just continue to embarrass yourself.

He took load that allowed SPS, Cuningham, Fisher to develop into the midfield. Might not be captain but is definitely a leader with the young playing group. I dont think you would speak to a single Carlton supporter who wouldnt call 2017 a success and Gibbs was a key part of it.
