Smith too old for the Saints build and that price is far too high

And Smith not suited to playing on the smaller Etihad

depends if you are trying to get a flag while roo an montnaga are there if so three years of smith is awesome cream onto of a growing midfield group

Not for the price when you can get much cheaper options, and they already have spent high on Freeman. St Kilda could get a much cheaper option.

who is around that has won a million flags an breaks line at a elite level? Saints love the sling shot style smith is perfect if they want a flag now..

Then head to the draft. You can get wingmen quite late in the draft. If you were going to burn a first rounder on one, you want them to be around for more than 3 years.

If we were an MCG tenant I'd think he'd be more closely looked at

But the smaller etihad ground makes it harder for outside players to impact games imo

Could be completely wrong but it is somewhere in the $680- 800k range.

If we could get a club to pay half, we'd probably be happy with taking less of a deal, even a late future pick in 2018.

I would give up a second for him and pay half.

tigers did that with corey ellis and Menadue, takes time and doesn't always work imo..

whatever the case saints can try an land a big fish with two picks under 10ish, hopper it is

We didn't try and get Ellis as a winger, and I feel like Menadue will come good.

Adelaide will barely give you half that after this year. That ship has sailed. Adelaide won't bother.

Pies won't trade Grundy.

Adelaide is going for their father son
Happy to do business for your first rounder for our two second rounders
Will get you more points than the first rounder you will potentially get to get the father son you guys are chasing

Waste of time as that is 2018 for starters and with the change in academy rules it's a waste of time downgrading anyway

Some of the folk over on our board have said there's word Varcoe might want to return to SA to set up his life after football. I have no idea how true it is or if it's garbage but I do know I'd like to keep him.

In line with Fly's current draft order:

SA club get: Travis Varcoe, pick 57
Collingwood get: Pick 32/36 and Pick 68/72

Zero chance port would give up a second round pick for an average to ok player who is 29 will be 30 early next season. I doubt we would even look at Varcoe, we have a tonne of depth right now so unless they are A-graders or much younger than Varcoe they won't get a look in.

Usually it is a pretty big thread so here is the 2017 version, I'll start off with a couple for my tigers.

Our first rounder for Jacob Hopper?

Our 2 first rounders this year + next year for Rockliff and Shache?
Hopper would be worth our 1st round pick.

Who's 1st round pick do you have?

Lol at thinking GWS are giving you a 2nd rounder back for Kelly!

Freo get Cam McCarthy & picks 7, 34 & 72/GWS gets pick 3.

LOL that up champ.:thumbsu:

Josh Kelly (@9 x $1,000,000) & pick 28 to North/picks 4 & 22 to GWS
Tom Rockliff (@4 x $750,000) to North /Brisbane get AFL compensation pick 20?
Andrew Swallow & pick 28 to GC/pick 26 to North

No.

Why would gws have to send a 2nd rounder back to north ?

4 + 22 (if those are the picks you have?) are what it should and would cost for a great great young mid. If it was port I would want two first rounders.

As I explained, my logic is based on the McCarthy trade.

People tend to forget that McCarthy was considered untradeable shit hot property after he bagged 35 goals in 20 matches (games 2 to 21) in 2015.
