We wouldn't trade Preuss for a first rounder.

Cmon mate.

Nothing about that trade i posted is reasonable. Im sure you knew that.

I cant think of any logical reason why your mob would trade pruess. Goldy has to go if it is likely to force preuss to leave. I was one of those people saying you should have traded goldy last year.

Anyways. It is gonna be interesting how you guys handle your current ruck dilemma

Ah right, just used to awful trade suggestions here.

Reckon Goldy gets told that we need to play Preuss at year's end and he's not guaranteed first ruck spot.

He goes elsewhere for guaranteed game time and we trade him for about an early second.

Yep that seems the most likely outcome to me. But clubs often make strange decisions.

When did he break his face? He had a shoulder injury this year and some kind of other structural injury every other year. I don't care how he gets injured, not getting on the park=not getting on the park. If Im paying an early first rounders for a player I expect the player to play at least 18 games a year, none of those Daniel Wells/Chris Mayne bs.

He's injury problems have been overstated. He'd been suspended a few times for silly things which he has stopped and had broken ribs twice after hard hits. Missed between 8-10 combined games due to separate rib injuries.

Mate, you might want to go look how many games Rockliff has played each season. Except for his rookie year, he's only played less than 18 games twice.

2015 he broke 3 ribs, twice. Round 1 and 9. These weren't his body breaking down. Last year, he had hamstring and calf problems.

...
He also hasn't played 19 games or more in any of the last 4 seasons... His body wasnt broken earlier on in his career, but it is now.

So he's only played less than 18 games twice ever, but never played more than 19 in last 4 years. What is this some kind of NAPLAN question?

He's only missed 1 or 2 game this season dont think injuries are a huge concern for him.

Is brisbane problem anyway cos he's not going anywhere

Says the collingwood supporter who has both Wells and Varcoe playing at the pies neither has played 18 games in the last 5 seasons

How does the fact that we recruited Wells and Varcoe have any relevance to me saying Rockliff is injury prone? Did I recruit wells/varcoe? Gets salty instantly attacks another poster's supported club rather than focusing on the point.

Some of the folk over on our board have said there's word Varcoe might want to return to SA to set up his life after football. I have no idea how true it is or if it's garbage but I do know I'd like to keep him.

In line with Fly's current draft order:

SA club get: Travis Varcoe, pick 57
Collingwood get: Pick 32/36 and Pick 68/72
I can't see him fitting in the crows team but if Port lose Jasper then he could be part of a 3 way trade, still unlikely though

gibbs for crows pick 18,then the year afters first :straining: tongue firmly in cheek

grundy for ports or crows first an 2nd round pick

hawks smith,for st kilda first?
Hahaha, are you implying that the crows will win the flag?

And votes for one nation, or worse, Malcolm Turnbull!

The problem is he is contracted and judging by his comments this week has no interest in moving. And you are not going to pay him 800kpa to play vfl and he knows it so there's no leverage there.

You would be better off if he had been FA this year and you could lowball a contract offer to get him to go and you would get a good compo pick. As it is i think you won't be able to convince him to move.

Maybe, but he won't want to play VFL. If he's told Preuss is #1 ruckman next year, I think he'd explore his options.

I get Preuss isn't that young, but he is new to the system. Possible you're being a bit impatient and glhr needs more time than this year to develop the strength and craft to be 1st ruck regularly? I get he's clearly the best ruck prospect.
A lot of times rucks play as a forward/ releiving ruck first up and he seems like he could do that from what I've seen. Admittedly one game.

We have a winner! and the prize is a fat gooseberry! JJ is so overrated..... your start point should be 1st round + JJ

Yer Over rated remember September last year when he won the Norm smith against you guys.....dont tell me Rampe is better.. or Grundy.. so over stupid people with short memories

Yes he got a heap of it but I also remember him missing targets like it was going out of fashion. He was lucky.

Anyway, you have your opinion and I have mine. I wouldn't swap Rampe, Newman, Mills or Jones for him - he's too hyped and thus expensive plus he's getting found out this year..... I'm over stupid one eyed supporters

Kennedy Boyd Picken all played better games.

I think the Tigers should try and package up our 2 teen picks for a top 5 pick
2 teens do not = top 5. They = pick 10 at best. The talent drop off after the first half dozen is always huge.

Thats a misconception imo.
Lots of quality has been taken from 10-20 recently.
Cripps, Lever, Burton, Rioli.
We should only do it if there is a quality tall avalible in the top 5

Historically, it isn't a misconception. Statistically a big difference between 1-5 & 11-20 strike rates.

With increased resources there may well be a trend towards better picks in the 11-20 range (also not helped by the fact that SOS went all in at GWS with speculative picks to try finish the list off), but even then, you've named 4 from what 3 drafts total - 4/30....

Would Collingwood consider giving up a first rounder for Gunston? If they finish around 9th with pick 10? Would Hawthorn consider taking that?

At 25 he's not too far off their future core ages - Grundy (23), De Goey (21), Treloar (24), Langdon (23), Scharenberg (22), Adams (23), Elliott (24), Aish (21), Broomhead (23), Hoskin-Elliott (24), Maynard (21), Moore (21) etc.

Despite being undersized for a key forward, he has lead an attack (2016 - kicked 51 goals), is efficient and smart, brings premiership experience, and could be a player Hawthorn are willing to trade (I know the talk has been quashed but if Hawks could get a top 10 pick they'd consider it strongly I expect).

Their other options for another key forward are Sam Reid (talk of offers at 800k, Gunston wouldn't fetch that), Levi Casboult (cheaper and no pick required, but not nearly as good), Mitch McGovern (going west or staying put), or sticking with the current options (White, Cox) to partner Moore.

Think it'd be worth a call? Hawks and Pies fans thoughts?

Gunston is contracted for another three years. If Collingwood or any other club for that matter want him, they are going to have to trade a player of similar value or an up and coming young player. Hawthorn are not interested in draft picks. Collingwood has a stack of midfielders that might appeal to Hawthorn.
