2017 trade hypothetical thread

Gunston is contracted for another three years. If Collingwood or any other club for that matter want him, they are going to have to trade a player of similar value or an up and coming young player. Hawthorn are not interested in draft picks. Collingwood has a stack of midfielders that might appeal to Hawthorn.

Really you wouldn't be interested in pick 7-8? Surely the club would be willing to listen to offers, especially if it meant you could then get Whitfield (end result of trade week might be Gunston out for Whitfield and a pick around 15-20?)

Whitfield is for next year. ;)

I reckon Carlton would be interested in a player like Gunston.

Yeah fair enough, I was really looking more at who Collingwood could target, so it was from their perspective.

Personally think we need to go for midfielders, Gunston obviously good but in terms of young players we have better stocks in future forwards than our mids.

We need key forwards who can take marks inside 50 and provide a target for mids.

Gunston isn't a perfect fit.

Would much rather use our 1st rounder in a strong KPF draft.

Saw this trade mentioned in another thread:

Charlie Cameron > Brisbane
Port 1st (Brisbane) > Adelaide
Adelaide 1st, Port 1st (via Brisbane) > Carlton
Bryce Gibbs > Adelaide

so...

Brisbane give up: Port 2017 1st round pick
Brisbane gain: Charlie Cameron

Adelaide give up: Adelaide 2017 1st round pick, Port 2017 1st round pick (via Brisbane)
Adelaide gain: Bryce Gibbs

Carlton give up: Bryce Gibbs
Carlton gain: Adelaide 2017 1st round pick, Port 2017 1st round pick (via Brisbane)

why wouldnt adelaide just package there first and what they get of west coast for mcgovern if they want gibbs. no way the crows get rid of cameron

Brisbane have the rights to Port's 1st round pick this year. So when I say Port 1st, I mean Brisbane's second 1st round pick this year.

He's from Brisbane and wants to be closer to family from what I'm told ...

Cameron rumours are pretty common knowledge with some in the know Adelaide posters even confirming he wants a trade due to personal reasons. Media on to it as well.

Is it because your trade idea of DeGoey for Gunston was laughed at on our board only 2 weeks ago?

Tall Forward, Small Forward are Geelongs needs
Gunston type would be perfect along with Ablett

Brisbane won't give up Ports pick for Charlie Cameron.

More likely our second rounder.

We have to win a trade somewhere along the line willing to give Jack Frost back for Crisp
Crisp ain't nothing special either, only gone backwards since his magical 2015. Let's agree to not trade with each other again (I'll give you Beams though, we can't counter back that trade)

Shouldn't have de-brisbaned him then...

His 2015 season was all from the Lions development but slowly the Collingwood crept into his game.

Give me a DeGoey over a decrepit Beams any day of the week though.

De Goey's a beast but doesn't have the tank or explosive game of Beams. I honestly think Beams is a good comparison though as he can definitely work on those weaknesses. Hine picked the right kid to replace him.

I posted on the Carlton thread to a mix response so wondering what others think of,

Jacob Weitering for Josh Kelly + Jacob Hopper.... Carlton might need to throw in some loose change but i would think it is an equitable trade that helps both clubs, particularly if Kelly & Hopper want out.

Surely you're not serious? Weitering might be par for Hopper as a straight swap but you're taking the piss adding in Kelly. You'd need to throw in 2017&2018 1st rounders to get Kelly.

It was laughed at on our board. You'd have to be the most bias of posters to think that that was even a fair trade let alone you guys being ripped off.
