2017 trade hypothetical thread

Birchall isn't getting you a first round pick.

Given his age you'd say a 2nd round pick would be far more likely. Though it really depends on how many picks teams have. Last year GCS had 3? And would have loved to have picked up experienced players wanting to move to GCS, as opposed to kids who want to do their 2 years then move away.

Birchall + a 3rd though might. Birchall is definitely a 2nd. GWS could do with a defender with great rebounding power such as Birch and him and Shaw would be some half-back line.
Think it's plausible

Didn't Birch flat out refuse to bee traded last offseason? Or am I thinking of someone else.

Wouldn't they just swap their second then if you think he is worth a second? Why give up a first

Birchall + Hawthorn 2017 3rd for GWS 2018 1st
Ooooo I don't know about this one. If I was a GWS fan I wouldn't be keen on giving up a first round pick for aging Flankers. They have Williams, Shaw and Wilson, plus Haynes, Corr and Davis...not the kind of defence that really needs Birchell

He's 28 actually and should be around for another 4-5 years.

Facts can be useful. :)

Ok so 1 year difference. How many midfielders are still playing well at 32/33
Vince and Lewis have both been a shadow of themselves and are 31.
Gibbs is a now but playing for another 5 years doesn't mean he's any good for 5 years. Darling is more likely to be better in 5 years than now

If Darling is worth more than McGovern, why do so many West Coast fans want to delist him on the spot every week ?? He has copped a huge amount of flack this year, and if he was really any good, he would be 'untouchable' from a trade point of view. Yet those same West Coast fans seem to have a huge amount of interest in trying to bring in McGovern ??? Doesn't make much sense ??
has nothing to do with what the fans think and only how west coast rate him

i hear a whisper that tigers are trying to get lynch from Gold coast before gold coast more than likely lose him to free agency next year and only get compo???? anyone else know anything?

west coast get boned in that too .
darling + our first + future 3rd
for mcgovern and CEY .

Darling is worth more than mcgovern for starters so we are then paying

1st + future 3rd for CEY crazy
I disagree with Darling being worth more than McGovern but anyways. With West Coast being in mediocre land ladder wise you'd think they have to make some bold trades and try something to get out of being mediocre.

Lynch will command massive money next season. Wouldn't be surprised if he costs a team ~1.6 million a year. He'd be worth it too. Richmond will have money when Martin leaves so could be a good get.

Shaw, Wilson, Williams
Whitfield sits behind the ball when all mids are in the side.

If anything, they'd need a small forward.
Breust in place of Birchall would get their interest piqued.

What would the Tigers offer that would be better than their compo pick?
I can't see them finishing out of the bottom 3 again (esp if they lose Ablett).
So that's pick 4 in a draft with some serious top end talent.

Given he is their VC and one of the top forwards in the comp, i reckon they'll take their chances on convincing him to sign on again under the new coach.

Like the Guru just suggested, there is no way in hell Richmond can afford to pay Dusty his asking price plus bring in Tom Lynch from the Suns. It would be one or the other. If there is a whisper, does that mean Dusty is out the door ??

Except all our draftees from 2016 have signed on until 2020???

McGovern's only 2 years younger than Darling, and his returns so far in his career are
32 goals from 23 games
13 goals from 10 games

It's not exactly screaming high value for mine.

Potential is in the eye of the beholder

I think football ability wise GCS have a good list but mentally not so good....dont think it will take much to turn it around.....perhaps a hodgey and a Roos to add a bit of stiffness n all is good pretty quickly. The AFL can make stuff happen.
