2017 trade hypothetical thread

I have been reading various reports from their draft years and the current threads. Who would be worth more at the trade table Matthew Kennedy or Jacob Hopper?

I was a Hopper over Kennedy man but I am liking Kennedy more and more over the last month or so.
IMO similar value.
Agree
They're a great combo to have as well.
Would offer our 2017 1st and 2018 1st for both in a heartbeat.

Would you trade two first round picks this year for Hawthorns first next year?

I think the tigers and st kilda have 2 for example.
If I was St Kilda, hell no.

Tigers, might trade one 2017 first rounder for Hawthorns first next year.

Not a chance would anyone trade 2 for 1.

Brisbane get: Pick 6 (maybe a later pick too)
Collingwood get: Picks 14+18

Saves the Brisbane the hassle of giving up a late first round pick for Ballenden by paying for him with later picks AND getting a top level talent in addition to their pick 1 / 2. Collingwood allow themselves a bit more freedom with their choosings to try and fix their many needs.

it will be around the 5-8 mark, so at best you get 2 very late 1sts (i.e. Adelaide, GWS may get interested for their 2 years of 1st rd picks)

Would need to give up a 2nd rounder to get 2 mid-rd 1sts.

For Essendon, i would consider your 2018 1st for our 2017 & 2018 1st if it came with a starting 22 player, like Hardwick, Breust or Howe.

probably add your 3rd to even up the points, but thats not a bad deal.

Lions secure 1 or 2, 6 plus Ballenden.
Good haul for them.

Yup, send us our third rounder back. We'll even throw in Michael Close.

Good deal for both clubs. As mentioned, throw in your 3rd rounder and we'll throw Close in.

Good PR all around.

Where do we sign?

Melbourne tanking next year? Levi makes Pederson look like Buddy

IMO our biggest weakness this year was the lack of a marking forward/ second ruck. Our game style revolves around fast ball movement from the back line, often playing a loose man in defense. This often results in our player closest to goal being double teamed.

A player like Casboult fixes that weakness - gives gawn a chop out for 10-20% of the game and can halve a 2 on 1 contest as the closest player to goal. As much as I like watts, his main strength is his kicking and decision making around the ground - imo we need a big marking forward more than we need his kicking.

Pedersen is the wrong side of 30 and Weideman is still pretty raw. I'd prefer the likes of Peter Wright, but Casboult is a lot more realistic.

Edit - I value Watts and Casboult as late first/ early second round picks. Watts is probably worth a touch more, but not by much.

Casboult will be 28 by the time next season starts and Pedersen is far better and has less miles on the legs despite being older.

Adelaide Crows Hypothetical:

Trades
Charlie Cameron > Brisbane
Pick 14 (Received from PA) > Adelaide

Jake Lever > Collingwood
Pick 6 + Scharenberg > Adelaide

Mitch McGovern > Fremantle
Pick 5 > Adelaide

H Wigg + R.Atkins > Carlton
B.Gibbs > Adelaide

Would leave Adelaide Picks 5, 6, 17, 34, 52 and picks 70 + 88 for rookie upgrades (Greenwood + Keath).

Free Agency
Pick Up
Tom Rockliff (BL)
D. Menzel (Geel)
J. Trengrove (Melb)

Delist
S.Thompson (ret)
C.Ellis Yoleman
T. Menzel

2018 Round 1 Team

F Brown, Talia, Keath
HB Kelly, Hartigan, Laird
C Smith, M.Crouch, Rockliff
HF Lynch, Walker, D.Menzel
F Betts, Jenkins, Greenwood
FOLL Jacobs, B.Gibbs, R. Sloane

INT B.Crouch, D.Mackay, R.Knight, Scharenberg

What do people think?

You're not getting a first for Cameron, a good trade is 18-19.

Charlie Cameron is better than what you'll get at pick 14, unless you freak a Nat Fyfe style pick up

Fair trade for both parties imo

Valid argument but Watts provides so much more flexibility around the ground.
Pederson can give Gawn the chop out in the ruck but still provide defensive presence and an honest contest.
Levi does crash packs but defensively he's very average and his kicking accuracy just kills momentum and morale.
He's a last resort break glass imo

He's been poor since about the bye

Around the time the speculation about his future seriously started to bubble

Prior to that he was very good, following on from his very good 2016

With our recent draft history, I'd rather be taking pick 14 to the draft. Not even comfortable parting with pick 19 at this stage. And yes, I understand he is contracted.
