Duryea to Port as a free agent, pick 43 compensation

Whitecross, Hodge, pick 60 & 79 for Pick 41

Heatherley for Pick 61

Puopolo & 42 for pick 23

Picks 23, 32, 41, 42 & 61 + A rookie upgrade in the draft
I'm not sure poppy has any value. On his last legs as an AFL player. That is basically pick 42 for 23 because Puopolo won't be a footballer in two years.

Changed it to pick 25 to make it slightly better. Using the points system that places Puopolo as equal to pick 44 which is around the mark I would think

IMO:

Duryea seems about right.

Lions won't have any need for 60 and 79. Nor will Hodge have any value. And I don't think they would pay 42 for Whitecross.

Heatherley has no trade value.

Poppy might get you a pick in the 40s. I doubt a team would be willing to part with a pick in the 20s, even if they got something back in return.

Because everyone knows everyone retires at 30...

GWS need defensive pressure forwards. Its the one massive hole in their list. Who are they going to go after?

BTW: does that mean Gibbs has minimal value because he is only a year younger than Poppy?

Except Poppy is pretty crap. Not a chance in hell you get anything of value for him.

To the Carlton supporters out there as it looks like Smith and Kennedy will both nominate you guys for a trade, I imagine that you would not want to part with your pick 3 or 2018 first round pick for both. Would you guys look at doing the following trade:

Blues: pick 3 + 2018 2nd round pick to Saints for pick 7 & 8

I imagine that you would be more comfortable to part with pick 8 in a deal for both and you could potentially pick up a quality slider at 7.

I'd do that if GWS would accept pick 8. We still get pick 7, Kennedy, Smith, 2018 first rounder - 4 first rounders added to the side, 3 of which are likely to be in our weakest area for youth (midfielders).

Managed 5 goals in the last 2 games of the season, after coming back from injury.

But yeah Im sure list managers look at BF for all their plans. A place where a player is either worth 2 x 1st, or pick 100. With no possibility of anything in between.

So what do GWS do to get a defensive pressure small forward? Get someone from Richmond? Or go to the draft and wait a couple of years?

Clubs don't generally put valued draft picks into defensive pressure forwards.

As above. What do GWS do? Cross fingers and hope next year will be different?

I'm not one to overrate players when they're no good, but Puopolo was the best pressure forward in the competition from 2014-2016 based on tackles Inside 50 and pressure acts. He's also good overhead, great set shot and always hits the scoreboard.

He's also good at copping a cheeky high tackle in front of goals. He's not worth a first or second rounder, but to the right club he's worth something.

One thing pressure forwards need is legspeed and that's what goes first in older blokes. He's not a Mitchell or Lewis who can get by on footy smarts

Judging by a few of the speccies and run down tackles in limited games this year, I'd say his legs are still as explosive as they have been in recent years.

If he's a Boomer Harvey type freak athlete then maybe, he will be 30 before next season starts so we will see but I can't see it being before a pick in the 50s

I'll try Port too but not too much to work with this year. We'll be hoping that we get Motlop and Rockliff by free agency.

Brendan AhChee to West Coast for Pick 46
Impey and Pick 49 to Western Bulldogs for Pick 26
Young, Lobbe Pick 26, Pick 31 to Gold Coast for Pick 22, Pick 24, Shaw
Pick 22 to Melbourne for Watts

In Watts, Shaw, Pick 24, Pick 46 Motlop(fa), Rockliff (fa)
Out AhChee, Young, Lobbe, Impey, Trengove (fa) Pick 31, Pick 49

West Coast have pick 48

Gold Coast should be into young very much, but don't see them as being interested in down grading picks at all. They would likely want to go the other way and upgrade picks.

Gold Coast wouldjust offer something like pick37 for young , lobbe. I would take that too.

Why would Port want shaw? If young ah chee have trouble cracking our side shaw is going to struggle getting a game for the magpies.

I would put him in that category. If you look at Puopolo it's obvious from his physique that he has good preparation and looks after himself. Plus the littler guys are a bit more sturdy and are able to maintain athletic ability a bit longer into their career.

Points are irrelevant unless you need them for father son or academy. At the end of the day you wouldn't throw away the chance to get a young kid at pick 25 for Puopolo and a pick 40 odd...especially in this draft.

His career is in its final stages. Solid footballer but no reason to give up anything to get him at your club!
