FWIW not a single Gold Coast fan on their board is disappointed about Loersch being delisted. Not sure being 203cm and kicking goals in the NEAFL makes you an option 100% of the time. Been delisted twice in two seasons at the suns. I'd be very surprised if our club didn't look elsewhere.

Of course it is.

It would entirely rest on them needing to get Lever but can't fit him in their cap. Being able to throw $500,000 extra for three years of their Lever deal could be what it takes to get him and they are going to lose a first for him anyway, all we would be doing is downgrading their pick next year for the finance.
Rumour is that Lever took Collingwood off his to do list when Bucks contract was extended... recent comments by Bucks don't make Collingwood a destination club with him as coach !

Loersch did well at South Fremantle and everyone wrote him off because he was too big or never left the goal square or something bizarre.

Not getting a game at the Suns doesn't mean much, their approach to development is bad. Why wouldn't you give him at least a couple of games?

Mayne is nowhere near as bad as people are making out (the same idiots who think Dawson is so bad when in reality he was okay for a while there) and is a total scapegoat over at Collingwood, but come on, he's about 28 and old and the club is rebuilding. Would be as dumb as keeping Suban. Jesus. I like the guy and think he was maligned and just struggling in a weird role in his last few years at Freo but seriously... ffs.

Assuming Clarke/Griffin are both gone I guess it really depends on Apeness if we want Loersch or not. He's certainly the right type of player and the right age group that we'd be looking at. If both Clarke and Griffin retire then it wouldn't surprise me to see us pick him up.

I don't mind offering Loersch a rookie spot but if somebody pick him up earlier , I not going to cry over it.

Loersch? As depth? Why not.

No idea about him other than what others have already said.

Only if we get rid of Griffin and Clarke due to age.

That said if Loersch plays at Peel and takes away time from Strnadica I'd be annoyed. Think Nads has something.

Salary cap is a thing.

I doubt that Collingwood is constrained by salary... But as a list, we should be struggling to make the minimum. You pay people for when they perform, if you pay them big dollars beyond their worth at aged 20 when they aren't doing much, you get stuck when they are 24 and performing well and want a payrise. With the culling of our list, we are losing veterans and have an increasingly "yoofier" list.

Maynes contract from a Freo perspective would be to make up what the AFL requires from us as the minimum salary cap (and/or up to max cap) on the proviso that we get something useful to us. We'd all agree, that on many years of form, we aren't getting anything from Mayne himself*, so with picks to take the salary pressure off of Collingwood that works for us as we could use the picks - if losing salary space works for Collingwood.

* as for Maynes form. Have some pity on the poor bugger. He played his heart out for us, you could never accuse him of being lazy. He was a medium sized forward that had to play tall in a team short on tall forwards and was always going to struggle in that role. Yes, his goal shooting (well, words are beggared beyond belief at his best and his worst). If he didn't have the pressure of playing 2nd forward instead of what he is - a mid sized forward, his yips might never have become an issue, that was a bucket load of pressure to put on someone. Up to you folk, you are all adults (except for those that aren't), he bled purple, keep it nice and don't pay out too much on him if we get him as a Peel player and some picks - and a Starlight ambassador to boot.

From that he seems to be working his way through every possible injury...

Calf, Hip, Abductor (misspelt on that site), Knee, Ankle, Hand, and a bunch of "Did not play reserves" for some reason.

Would be a strong addition to our injury list of talls.
Adductor = towards the midline i.e groin
Abductor = away from the midline i.e some of your glutes and tfl

My goodness like seagulls waiting for left over chips.

The pies wanted Mayne out 3 games into a 4-year contract. Move on already. Is this a rebuild or s*#tbuild.

This Lurch fella. When the poster mentioned he was behind Currie in getting a game that is where the discussion should have ended. Let him play for South Fremantle next season and make a decision then. We only have 5 Rookie spots. Dumin and Nads take 2 and a good chance Nyhuis and Deluca get delisted and re-rookied.

Mother of God just the idea of Mayne coming back is nearly enough to make me give away watching football.
I don't care if he's a great bloke and tried his guts out and bled purple and was a Starlight ambassador. I'm sure he's a wonderful human being.
But he epitomises everything I don't like about the way Lyon coaches and selects teams.
