For me same as the vast majority of delisted players - no thanks, they were delisted for a reason.
Seriously? Barlow was delisted. Menegola. And especially if you are looking for depth players such as ready to go rucks, I think it is a reasonable option.

By the way, I wouldn't especially take him, but that is because I am really keen to give Strnadica, Darcy and Apeness as many opportunities to develop as possible.

Nah Barlow delisted for a reason(injury and his age,out of contract ) , menegola need to prove to outsider he is good by playing for subi in wafl .

Menegola was delisted twice. Seems to go ok now.

I use the qualifier "vast majority" for a reason. Of course there will be exceptions. Also Menegola is not a viable comparison since he was drafted.

Barlow I would be interested in as a challenger but I think that had more to do with clubs thinking they could get him for free because they knew we would delist him if not traded.

Agree our boys need the time anyway regarding a new ruck.

Hamling was delisted too. I said at the time that we should try to get him, but he went to the Dogs.

Came up with this one with a Pies supporter in an attempt to balance out my bias a bit:

Freo:
Out: Pick 5, Balic, Crozier
In: Hogan

Adelaide:
Out: Lever
In: Pick 5, Crozier (replacing Cameron)

Melbourne:
Out: Hogan
In: Lever, Balic
Aside from the whole Jesse requesting and being granted a trade being far-fetched at best, I don't see Melbourne doing that. Balic is steak knives and Hogan > Lever - we would have to do better.

For Logue? No. But if we used that pick to get a dead set gun or even trade it to get one then I'd find it worth it.

If the pies coughed up pick 6 or their first rounder next year to us we could just employ Mayne as a pure depth/WAFL player.
Why the **** would the pies do that though? Sorry but this is by far the stupidest shit I've ever read on this board. The pies aren't going to donate us a top 10 draft pick just because they've got someone on their list earning 150k a year more than the AFL average.

It's just completely ridiculous and makes Fremantle supporters look like morons.

Menzel, motlop and rockliff at the right price would be OK.
Menzel yes, but I think he wants top $$$ and he's such an injury risk.
Motlop no because he comes back yearly as a fat spud and takes 1/2 a year to get right. Sets a bad example for the kids and should have more discipline than that.
Rockliff no because he's old and I'd worry his effect on the culture of the club.

Probably fair on all counts.

Definitely brother. This Mayne crap is next level stupidity.

And can we do away with asking the question about every delisted player. Lets add quality or go to the draft. I can't think of many players we picked up that were delisted. Three since 2000 come to mind (not counting PSD);
Dylan Smith (North - rookie list)
Kepler Bradley (Dons - ND late pick)
Sam Menagola (Hawks - rookie list)
I might have missed a couple but it isn't a route we go down often and for good reason. As for the FA list it has high end spud content. Our two FA pick-ups don't make for the greatest reading either; D. Pearce was solid in his early years and Colin Sylvia just horrible.

I'm not saying the Pies will do it. I'm suggesting we could give them that option. If they're that serious about offloading him to lure an elite talent with his pay packet then they'd look at all avenues. Realistically there's barely a chance. BigFooty deals predominantly in hypotheticals, I was merely playing along with this hypothetical.

Their pick 36 would be handy, with pick 36, 40, I would trust our recruiters to find some real quality similar to the Darcy,
Cox finds.
I would rather have Mayne on the list than Balla, Pearce to be honest.

The whole Mayne fiasco.

Maybe a club takes him on board and picks up some of his salary and maybe get an upgrade of a pick in the later rounds.

That's an absolute at best scenario for both parties.

Any other outcome that's better than that id be staggered.

Coming to Freo? That's paying larger odds than a Mayne set shot from 40m out slight angle when you have all the momentum and need a goal.

I would take Trengrove from Port, and delist, retire, Griffen, Clarke, and play him forward/ruck, at worst
he us backup for sandi, Darcy.
Can Sandi play a large chunk of footy next year anyway? Trengrove is at the right age bracket, has kicked
more goals than all our ruckmen, and is on the outer with Port.
His price has certainly dropped, would be a short term fix until others are ready.

He's almost 27 which isn't really the right bracket, he's a pretty poor forward and a not very good ruck. I don't really think he'd be any sort of upgrade on Taberner considering he'd cost 600k ish more and is 2 years older
