Yeah, no idea where the Wilson talk came from - probably a few posters on here finally getting around to watching GWS games and realizing he exists. No reason for him to leave.

If we're being real the defender I would like to take off of GWS hands is Haynes. Literally the perfect replacement for Ibbotson. Although lets not get caught up in fantasy land or we could be speculating all day and night about pick ups.

Dunno about Matera.

Genuine potato up until this year and will be 26 come next season. Sure if he's basically free you take it but at this stage i'd rather keep the picks. Not that we even have a 2nd which is about where he'd fall value wise if he ends up having a 40-50 goal season. I'd rather draft a small forward and try Deluca in the role for a bit.
Yeah I'm not convinced yet either. He's having one hell of a purple patch but I still need a larger sample size before I can say with any confidence that's he's genuinely come good. There have been plenty of examples of crabs putting together a month or two of unexpectedly great footy and then reverting back to sub-par footy. Agree on Deluca, he's been on the list long enough and it's time to see what he's got. I really think he could be something.

Wilson is from WA and gets bonus points for being from Peel. That's literally all the connection you need to link a player to Freo these days. If it's not a rumour then it will be at some stage im sure.

Watch his Peel Final series last season. De Luca was fit as he's ever been and breaking through packs. Was close to best on in every game. He's still only 21. Nothing to lose. Could be a blessing for Fyfe. Worked hard in the gym and he is an attacking threat, meaning he likes a goal or two with his usual 20+ possesion game

Agreed. Do you think he could become a number one forward? Or similar to McCarthy and be a second/third forward?
Hmm. I think he would be our best forward.... making him the number one forward. McCarthy then gets the 2nd best forward. We still need a ruck/fwd in the mix so Tabs/Ape. Kersten in there would probably be one to many med/talls though.

His stats are almost identical to to both McCarthy and Kersten (McCarthy is better is some). If we get another medium forward they need to be able to swing into the midfield (Sort of what Mundy is doing ATM). He will also cost a pretty penny as well....

IMO we would be better looking to the draft and improving our draft position through trading. Sam Hayes in this year's draft is a player that is tailor-made for our setup to replace Tabs/Ape as a more potent and versatile option.

We had a chance to get Nathan Wilson a few years ago when he was out of contract. There were articles stating that he was keen to come home but at that point he had hardly played for GWS.

Mitch McGovern is the one I would focus on. A fwd line of three mobile mid talls to me is an exciting prospect they are tall enough to create a contest but unlike the 3 talls now they need to ensure they all don't go up for the same mark at once.

We will have to get crafty with the trade though. No 2017 second round pick and we really need to hang onto our first whilst in this rebuild phase.

Mitch McGovern would be a good get but IMO he's just like what we already have. I think McCarthy will be better.

We need a primary FF. The players we have are 2nd and 3rd talls, Mitch McGovern is not a FF.

At the moment I think we need another midfielder anyway.

Does anyone know what the likelihood of Balic needing to go back to Vic next year is.

Because if he does then what can/should we be asking for?

I'm thinking of a late 2nd round pick rather than a player

If he decided to go back , third round pick at best. Not ideal for freo.

We'll get nothing for him. I would almost put it towards the young blokes that if they aren't signed on they won't. W playing the back end of the year. Tucker, Balic, Langdon, Crozier etc. if they're not going to stay it's a waste of valuable game time that another young bloke could be getting. I'll be very pissed off if we lose Tucker. Apart from possible homesickness we've been as accomodating as possible. Got to play 13 games in his debut season and is a regular in his second year. I expect Balic to go, but losing Tucker would be a kick in the guts.

Balic's wrist is better, rated as a top 10 talent in his draft year, club wont accept shit like a late second or third rounder.
Sadly they may not have a choice.

Early days but he does have something about him. Hope he hangs around.

If he goes we can hope for a WA player to come home on sort of equal terms. Draft pick wise? we can expect stuff all.

I keep thinking Shai Bolton, although he has a year left to run.

Maybe he does a Langdon and signs on for 1 more year and re-evaluates.

Not a bad idea, hopefully he considers that if he is indeed homesick.

I think absolute worse is an early-mid second. Clubs rate him as do freo, can't see a club thinking 'they'll accept a third rounder'.

Except a second or third rounder is normally what Brisbane gets for actual top 10 picked players
Brisbane are soft at trade table. Realistically, Longer isn't anything that special, Polec is good but usually chokes in big games, (not sure what picks Redden and Yeo went) they under sold Yeo, Redden was a good tackler and reasonably good clearance player, but couldn't kick. They'll get a minimum first round pick for Shache, in fact they'll get another pick somewhere chucked in for him.

Hypothetically if Langdon or any vic boys wanna leave, you can try and package him with Balic to get a good pick. Example Balic and future second for a first rounder.
