We look like we'll have a strong midfield this year. Woodward, JT, Wills, Brown and Broomhead look likely to feature a bit. Maybe even Greenwood. No Witts to feed them in the ruck though. I still reckon we are short a decent key forward for the upcoming season.

We only have 1 True KPF on the Senior List and that is Moore

Another VFL club set to fall victim to a takeover by a tight AFL club. Box Hill, Preston, Springvale, Sandringham... I'm glad we went alone rather than killing off an existing club to save yearly running costs and fees.

The Scorpions are keen for any arrangement to recognise their history and the new jumper will continue to carry the initials of SFC (Springvale Football Club).

The make-up of a board and staff will be negotiated.

Williamstown's GM Chris Dixon appointed to replace Gatti. Seems to have a broad range of skills including development and welfare.

Club announcement including internal restructures and a further external appointment. Lockyer and Rocca are now involved in our academy program and don't have VFL assistant positions. With Gotch (midfield), Cassidy-McNamara (defence) and Ryan Power (ex-Frankston) taking over the forward development coaching role.

Further changes to the VFL set up see Jamie Cassidy-McNamara and Ryan Power move into positions as assistant coaches.

Cassidy-McNamara will oversee the VFL backline. Currently the club’s Academy Coach focusing on Skill Acquisition, his role will be adjusted to accommodate this change, and will provide a depth of knowledge to our VFL program, as well as having access to our young developing AFL players on game day.

Power arrives from VFL club Frankston, where he worked as an assistant coach for the past three years.

Prior to that, he coached VAFA club Mazenod for two years after time as a player at St Bedes-Mentone (VAFA), Donvale (EFL) and Port Melbourne (VFL).

He will oversee the VFL team’s forward line.

As previously communicated, Jared Rivers has replaced Dale Tapping as senior coach of the VFL program, while Brad Gotch has joined as an Academy Coach, looking after the VFL midfield.

Further to this, Tarkyn Lockyer has been promoted to the position of Head of Academy.

Lockyer will oversee the football development of all AFL listed players, working closely with the aforementioned coaches team and existing Academy Coach Anthony Rocca.

Very good get. Anyone who can produce success in this comp in an alignment with hostile AFL overlords and then make the joint even stronger after going stand-alone is someone worth bringing onboard.

And in other news, we've made some changes to the VFL assistant coaching ranks as well...

"Academy Coach" is the new buzzword in football ranks as well, I see...

The academy program sits outside of the footy department cap/tax, so I expect a lot of clubs will have large academy systems going forward.

Power looks to have a good background, albeit it's difficult to judge from the outside how he went managing Frankston's forwards especially given their onfield results.

http://frankstonfc.com.au/ryan-power/

Ryan lead the Dolphins Development Program in 2014 and in 2015 is looking to extend his role by taking on the senior forward line. Coming from Mazenod in the VAFA league Ryan has plied his trade as a player and coach in the TAC Cup (NSW/ACT RAMS), VFL (Port Melbourne), EFL (Donvale), VAFA (St Bedes & Mazenod) and even Canada in the Ontario Football League, with this wealth of experience across varying styles of leagues enabling him to provide an excellent sounding board for many of Frankstons young developing forwards. Although relaxed by nature, Ryan encourages players to look for ways to incorporate their footballing careers into everyday life and ensure that they are turning over every stone to get the best out of themselves on and off the field. A new father to son Max (with wife Jess), Ryan works as a Financial Controller and has an educational background in Business (MBA & CPA) and relishes the chance to impart strong development ethos on the young Dolphins playing group.

Good to get Chris Dixon into our system, looks a very good operator and will no doubt will even more improve our VFL system and player development. Also like all the changes with the coaching staff, as this keeps everything fresh.

Perhaps our female supporters might be happy with a Chippendale.

Though at 85cm weight it leaves a lot to the imagination.:D

Just adding to what campbell023 posted.

Four new faces on the field will add to a rejuvenated Collingwood VFL program next season.

The VFL Magpies have signed Michael Chippendale, Stephen Tahana, Matt La Fontaine and Campbell Lane as they prepare for a 2017 campaign under new coach Jared Rivers.

The four new Magpies add to the signature of former Hawthorn midfielder and 2014 Liston Trophy winner Alex Woodward who signed with the club in early December.

A further 10 existing players have reaffirmed their commitment, totalling 15 signed players before the Christmas-New Year’s break.

Outgoing VFL General Manager Luke Gatti is pleased with the position of the club at the midway point of the pre-season.

“To keep a large portion of the group together and add in some quality talent before Christmas is fantastic,” Gatti told Collingwood Media.

“We’ll be strategic in the way we approach reaching our full list of 24 contracted players.”
