Bouchard def Cornet in Madrid and her next opponent will either be Lucic or Maria.

It doesn’t get any easier for her in the next round – she’ll face either No.17 Mirjana Lucic-Baroni or Stuttgart semifinalist Maria Sharapova for a chance to make it two wins in Madrid.

The media will be praying for a female version of "The Beef Bowl" ala Kyrgios vs Wawrinka.

Wawrinka's plaything wins her 2nd WTA title @ Nottingham and goes from #70 to #58 in the world.

Plaything lol I didn't even know she had already won a title

Yeah in all seriousness I should really lay off the cheap shots. Vekic probably gets enough crap for being Stan's missus and that time Kyrgios ran his mouth was very gutless.

She has been very frustrating to follow since being a promising junior. She's finished ~100 for the last 5 years and in between long patches of mostly losing she gets on a run and makes a WTA Final which is about once a year since 2012 except for 2016 (but she did make 2x 100K finals for 1 win). To her credit this year her ranking has slowly been on the rise and last week's performance reinforces that.

But in the previous tournament @ ITF 100K Surbiton as the 2nd seed, she lost to some scrub from the USA. She allegedly spent the rest of the week back in Paris supporting Stan up to and including the Final.

She comes from a wealthy family and Wawrinka is doing well financially himself. It's hard to know whether she wants to take being a tennis pro seriously or if she's just in it for the player parties and the lifestyle.

Was going to post something about your comment but let it go through to the keeper but since you've brought it up it irks me that the minute it becomes public that a female has had sex with more than one bloke she is maligned and yet guys can screw around and it's seen as something to gloat about. So much for the sexual revolution, only works for men it seems.

/end rant

it's cool. I have only seen Vekic play a few times, she seems like an ok player with some powerful shots but inconsistent. I think Iva Majoli was coaching her at one time?

Anyway I was surprised to hear she defeated Konta in the finals. Good win.

14 minute game so far for dash trying to stay in this 1st set

Edit 16 minute game, just to get to the tiebreak, hope she can win the 1st set, can see her dropping the ball if she loses this set

Great tiebreak from dash, got out to 6-0 lead eventually won it 7-4

such a dasha kinda match, gave up the 2nd without a whimper after fighting so hard in the 1st.

3rd set fights hard at 3-2 to not get broken, than immediately breaks next game.

at 5-3 had 2 match points on safarovas serve, cant take either of them.

Than attempting to serve it out at 5-4 she serves a double fault at break point down and its back to 5-5

3rd set tie break one of the points of the year might find a video of it tomorrow. And of course on the 1st match point safarova takes it. Over 3 hrs match was pretty good quality all the way

2:40 is that incredible rally i was talking about 26 shot rally

I watched the last set tie break. Gavrilova was always infront in the breaker but Safarova hung in there winning both of the big rallies. Gavrilova missed a regulation put away, then she stopped playing the next point and called for hawkeye on the baseline on an in call, hawkeye didn't work and Safarova got the point. Safarova then went bang bang on serve to win.
