Good points but you seem to be forgetting one minor detail. There won’t be no crumbs with Bucket Hands Cox plucking everything! Don’t forget Cox guys - should surpass Kersten this year!

Only if he can get a game ahead of big boy Strnadica.

The draft machine has Petrocelle's draft range from 20 - 60. He'd be a good get at 42 I would've thought. Looks a Crozier type but with more pace.
He goes missing like Croz does too. Doesn't have great skills so I wouldn't touch him personally. Reminds me a bit of Alex Morgan in his draft year - had exciting speed but not so good at football. I'm sure he'll prove me wrong now that I've posted that :)

I'm also of the very strong view we must go best KPF available @ #42 given we are almost certain to go two mids (or mid/fwds) @ #2 & #5.

For those of you who like Krueger (me!) And those of you who rate Cal Twomey (not many), I sent off a tweet/reply to one of Cal's posts to ask which clubs are in to Krueger and if he'll be available for Freo at 42. Cal responded that he isn't aware of any clubs that are into Krueger and he expects Krueger to go later in the draft...
Make of that what you will...
Oh yeah, I've come around to Ben Miller, if we can make him a forward target in the mold of Ben Brown and Peter Wright (plz)
His pace is bonkers for someone his size

Nathan Kreuger is looking like more of a late pick, I was having this same discussion with people in the BigFooty Phantom thread. Somewhere after pick 60ish, he'll likely come into discussions. But who knows how late clubs will be picking. I can't imagine him being in the mix for #42.

I think the more likely late draft option for Fremantle will be Joel Amartey. 196cm, 85kg. Played mostly ruck this year, but could be developed at either end of the ground. He has a bit of Michael Johnson about him, same laconic looking movements. As a versatile KPP/second ruck, he looks the more appealing for us.

I see an under sized Zac Clarke.
Not really mobile enough at his height?

Mobility was never Clarke's issue at least. Amartey runs a 3.03 second 20m. He's got the speed and leap too. The casual style just makes him look slower and more cumbersome than he is.

What are your thoughts on Alex Paech?
They've got him at 196 and 104kg. If that's the case he moves really well

let's take them both!

I like Paech too. I think he's an Academy pick for GWS though? Not sure?

Also like Hayden McLean as a late or rookie KP pick.

I want Miller most though.

Fair enough. Just think he has a fair bit of upside given his lack of footy background and would be OK value at 42. Don't think his skills are bad either.

Hey Chris25 there's a few players I'd like to know your thoughts on

What do you think of Brayden Ainsworth, Jake Patmore, Callan England, Dom Barry and Kane Farrell? I'm interested to see where you see them going/if we could be going for them.

Yes Paech is GWS academy.

For mine McLean and De Koning have possibly missed the boat and may not get drafted (maybe rookie).

For starters, GWS don't have access to Paech. They lost him along with the likes of Brander and Spargo when their zone changed - same goes for Lane and Langlands, despite still being referred to as being in the Academy. But they still obviously would have put work into him, so may still want to draft him. Looks a rookie prospect, didn't really hit the heights many would have wanted this year. He does 'move well for his size', but that's not saying much when you're 104kg really. Not particularly agile, may struggle against AFL level forwards. Worse options as a rookie project though.

Is there any real knock on Krueger? Fitness or skills? Every highlight reel I've seen on him is impressive. Given the lack of good KPP this year I can't see why he isn't in conversations for a pick between 25 and 40. He's got some Daniher, Lobb, Blicavs type play about him

Patmore is my favourite from that. I had him top 20 at the start of the year, but he struggled in the first half of the season and dropped down many draft boards. He worked into the season though. He's a ball winner across half back and through the midfield, would be a good Weller replacement. With Farrell a similar option, he's got good athletic attributes and a nice kick. On the smaller side and not a big ball winner, quite outside. Patmore around the 30-50 mark I think, Farrell maybe 50 onwards.

I'm not so big on the other WA mids. Personally, I'd rather Starcevich was off the board before our third pick. Ainsworth is probably the next best after Patmore, may go somewhere around the 50-60 mark. Strikes me as a good player, someone you know what you'll get from each week. But no real standout features. England has always performed well at whatever level he plays, he's a bit smaller though and shaping more as a rookie pick.

I like Dom Barry, but you'd have to be concerned that he left Melbourne because of homesickness. Probably best for an SA team to take him. If we wanted a similar player type, we could just pick up Jarrod Garlett before the Eagles do.

No major knocks. Inconsistency is the major one. The SANFL U18s isn't the highest quality, and he hardly dominated when he played. Flashed plenty, but didn't have the four quarter performances. South Adelaide aren't the best side though, I think he was asked to do a bit much and opposition clubs knew he was the only talented player there. Questions over his role too, and whether he'll be anything more than a third tall.

Thanks Chris, fair point about what role would suit him best. At 196cm and some lanky arms (plus a jump) I was hoping he might be more of a taller forward who could pinch hit in the ruck. His time in the midfield looked classy too, plenty of fend offs, tackles and bouncing down the centre corridor.
Amartey looked alright. Though I'm not sure I can see him playing a role for us. Too small to ruck against the likes of Gawn/Goldy etc, not sure if he's got a big leap? Krueger was top 4 for agility and top 10 for running vertical jump (can you tell i'm trying to convert you here! haha!).

I liked Amartey when I saw him live.
When it comes to Kreuger, does anybody else think of:

I also like what I see.
Some Bont type qualities as a mid, just seems like he likes a contest. Will bully the littler players, but also have a go at the bigger ones.
Yep, lots to like

You'll never need to sell me on Kreuger, or any other SA draftee.

Kreuger had a running vertical of 87cm, whereas Amartey recorded 90cm - which wasn't even his PB. Leap isn't an issue for him. I'm not saying he'll be a #1 ruckman and go up against the likes of Gawn, but if the game is going away from two rucks then Amartey would be perfect as the pinch hitting second ruck/forward.

Haha, Freo have had some great success with our SA picks, Pav, Neale, Clive Waterhouse :)

I think Krueger looks like more of a natural footballer, Amartey seems like another basketball player trying to switch codes (another Zac Clarke). Looks really uncomfortable in the forwardline
