2018/19 LFFL Off-Season Thread
1 Coaches select Carryover Players – November 30
This year, coaches will have until Friday, November 30 to select Carryover Players they intend to bring into 2019. Coaches may choose any number between zero (0) and four (4) players to bring into the 2019 season. It might be worth noting that with the teams reducing by three, there will be three sides’ top-end talent available, so each coach will assess whether it is better to hold or head to the draft.
2 LFFL Pre-Draft – November 30
Once the Carryover Players have been selected, the LFFL Pre-Draft will start. If coaches confirm their Carryovers earlier than November 30, we will start earlier. Given we are confirming them well past the usual date – when some futures are yet to be decided previously – it really should not be too difficult to get it done.
The LFFL Pre-Draft will run in reverse ladder order as of the conclusion of the finals series. Time limits are 24 hours.
3 LFFL Draft – At conclusion of Pre-Draft
The Off-Season draft occurs once every team has four players. Each team will take 16 selections to round out the list to 20 players. Those teams that missed out on the finals go into a draft lottery, where the bottom team has the most chances to get pick one, one more extra lottery ball than second last and it goes on from there. The top eight sides will draft based on end-of-finals finishing position.
Time limits for the Off-Season draft are 24 hours per pick. The first round is not timed to give every coach a chance to know the draft has commenced. From the start of the second round, each coach will have 24 hours to draft from the last selection. If they do not pick within the 24 hours, they are skipped and must wait THREE picks until they can pick again. At any point after that, they may select a player. If the picks are back-to-back it is just one 24 hour window.
If a player selects an ineligible player, ie. a player not on an AFL list or a player that has already been taken, the draft moves on, however the coach may pick another player for that pick at any stage without waiting for other coaches to make selections.
4 Confirmation Teams Thread
At the end of the Off-Season draft, expected to finish sometime between December-January, coaches must then submit their official team lists in a thread posted by Pie 4 Life. This means there is an easy record of all players to ensure the free agent pool is correct.
