12 years ago Bolton finished high enough in the Premier League to qualify for the Europa League. In it they drew both group games with Bayern Munich and qualified for the knockout round where they eliminated Atletico Madrid and then lost by a single goal over two legs to Sporting Lisbon.

Now for next season they will play in League One beginning dead last with a 12 point penalty.
12 point deduction is just brutal. Sad that the suffering fans, who've already sat through a relegation, will be impacted like that. But it needs to be out there to send a message to the owners that they can't just come in and do what they want. Hopefully Bolton bounce back and get themselves back up there.

Does anyone know where Portsmouth is at in terms of finances? I know they were in a similar situation, going down to League 2, but seem to be on the up now

Congratulations to Salford City who have won promotion to EFL for the first time in their history after a 3-0 win over AFC Flyde.

Salford City Promotion

Shame about the owners.:)
Not a lot of love for Salford on facebook etc. due to them buying their way through the lower leagues. Will be interesting to see how high they can soar though

A lot of owners are long gone by the time the punishment is handed down.

It's left to the new lot, and supporters to pick up the pieces.

My understanding is Portsmouth are now debt free, but it took around 5 years for them to get themselves out of their hole, and by that point they were very nearly out of the football league. They were almost relegated from league two in 2013/14, but won their last five games to stay up.

Charlton 3-2 up vs Doncaster on agg 10mins in, in the 2nd semi. Herbie Kane with a nice assist.

Edit: Doncaster equalize with a few mins left. 3-3, this is going to extra time.

In extra time: Doncaster makes it 4-3 and then Charlton makes it 4-4 a minute later!

Now pens...

Also worth noting, Tranmere are in the League 2 playoff final against Newport. They were a non-league side just last season and could be in league 1 straight away. So it's good to see another Merseyside based club doing well.

Interesting to note that they were in League 1 as recently as 2014. Has been a real rollercoaster ride for them.
