Is Duursma quick? If not, he’s of that awkward size that will lead to mediocrity.

He's super quick. Excellent mark. Kicks and handballs off both sides. Penetrating kick. Takes the game on. Starts outside and moves inside. I have no idea why there is angst about him. (does a couple of crappy chippy kicks if undecided)

Which means that with 15 we pick ******* Xavier Duursma as the explosive mid with speed that breaks lines.

Absolutely ******* moronic drafting. It's like we thought that Caldwell was definitely were going to be available at 10 and then when better picks were available at 15 in Collier-Dawkins we still went with the player we expected to be available instead of the players that were available.

Now completely happy with our draft. Best I've felt in months. We have nailed it!

Carlton just gave up pick 3 or 4, for pick 19 and a pick around 14-15 When the Crows finish around the top 4 which they will.
Absolutely unbelievable.

Can't see what they were thinking. That's 12 places in the next draft for a pick at the end of this draft. It doesn't sound so bad when you say it that way but it puts it into perspective. Carlton take cows second this draft as well and it's about right. Trouble is trading is to do with who has the power at the time and Carlton probably showed too eager. It's like a real estate agent, you don't get a fair price till you ignore them.
Even if Carlton surprise and finish 10th they'll be the losers in this trade.

We don't have an inside mid WITH SPEED. We needed an explosive mid with acceleration to create space around stoppages so we don't have the ****ing slop we always end up with.

We were into Caldwell at 10 before GWS went for him - why the **** did we go with Duursma at 15 after getting Butters with 10?

It makes no ****ing sense.

I was okay with Rozee and Butters because of who was left...but as soon as we picked Duursma it completely ****ed everything up because we didn't get the mid we so desperately need.

It's like the idiot list managers - and I'll include Hinkley in this because he was part of the committee - stupidly believed that the reason why we struggled with contested ball is because we didn't have enough players on the outside with speed. When the reality is that we struggled because we've got a bunch of slow ass inside mids and no inside/outside mid with speed that we can put in the middle as a counterpoint so that teams don't press up on us.

So ****ing stupid. The only hope we have is that Powell-Pepper becomes that explosive mid with speed. But I don't think he's that fast really.

I must admit I liked Caldwell and RCD and Hately .
I guess we've picked for the players we lost , I think Dursma is Pittards replacement given we need that run from half back , Butters Polecs replacement with run and carry and Rozee the Wingard X factor .
Not super sexy I guess but hopefully it works out for us

I'm happy with all our picks in isolation. Club has obviously embraced character. I just think our trading of picks for pick 5 was a bit mental! The club must hate the rest of the draft. Fair enough, but it would have been nice to get a midfielder and tall defender. I suppose we get a tall defender in the rookie draft?

The DVI values are what are so ridiculous. The discount would be reasonable but being able to match pick 13(1212 points) with 2 picks in the 40s is a bit easy. Two picks in the 40s would usually get you bugger all. Maybe if the rule was that you could provide the points with the discount but at least one of the picks you use has to be in the same round or the next one.

We have f/s prospects coming so wait for the AFL to do this for the 2019 draft.
