Gold coast had to pick whoever they deemed the best at the time. Retention shouldn't be in their minds because no matter who they pick it'll be an issue.

The AFL are apparently giving GC a big cash injection this year to improve their facilities and off field spend.

I don't think GC will fold. The AFL will stick it out. Aside from Tassie it's the only option for growth of the league, so they will stick it out possibly forever.

Even we don't always do that, so no way should the Suns contemplate it. Retention unlikely to be an issue for twin brothers at the same club. Fact.

There is just as much chance that both the kings pack up and leave in the same year back to Victoria you know.

Any chance we use a fourth pick today?

With Brisbane bid on Connor McFadyen, Carlton bid on Ben Silvagni and possibly Will Hickmott, Collingwood bid on Will Kelly and Atu B, Geelong bid on Oscar Brownless, GWS bid on Keiran Briggs, Hawthorn bid on Irving Mosquito, Melbourne bid on Toby Bedford, North Melbourne bid on Joel Crocker and Bailey Scott and Western Bulldogs bid on Rhylee West and Buku Khamis. Plus all the passed selections.

Our current pick #78 could become ~#60-65

We picked Joel Garner at #60 last year, Dougal Howard at #56 in 2014, Karl Amon at #68 in 2013....

We could find a decent serviceable player in this range, maybe a decent KPD

i still see Carlton bottom 5 easily. crows top 8....

So carlton receive pick 19 this year and next year pick 10. Adelaide gets pick pick 5.

crazy!

Getting the player you want in the draft shouldn't be undersold.
The lad looked stoked to be picked by Carlton too.

Did anyone hear Parker earlier today say we'll look to trade up tomorrow ??

Sparrow please. ******* get him !!

There might be some sliders. No one I would swap a second for. Sparrow for instance rather keep next years second. If he slides enough that our 4th rounders become useful than sure.

Kennerly is one who if he slides I would swap a 4th for immediately. Turner another.

My only concern is their size and strength, none are solid types. I was hoping all would play many games next year. Maybe they will.

A very good outcome.

Their size? Rozee and Duursma are 185, but also really wide shoulders and long arms for their height. Rozee plays taller than he is to be honest and both have the frame to be excellent sized mids.

Butters is small, but he will become a small nuggety guy with his build.

When we add pudney it’s going to be a huge draft haul of sizeable mids. Pudney is between 188-190 from what I can tell but haven’t seen a listed height since his obviously growth spurt. Another one that has shoulders and frame that are going make him a big boy.

Does anyone think Luko or Rankine will stick it out at GC? Dew needs a miracle

Rozee gives us an advantage in luring luko and gcs have dealt with us a fair bit. We’ve given them young and hombsch for peanuts. I would say we’re in the box seat for luko and it’s almost certain that rankine will go to the crows.

Will Port be able to resist Jez Mclennan, lol.

Intercept hbf who looks the goods.

Don’t want McLennan at all. Excellent job at champs but his intercept marks were all uncontested, his size isn’t great , not sure about him defensively, his kicking is just safe. didnt see him take players on.

He is miles behind Houston in every way imaginable. I wouldn’t take him before pick 50 if I was port and no other team should go earlier than 40.

true but with the value of the picks they had, and also the lack of ummm confidence in them improving, surely they could have got a better deal

If it wasn't Adelaide Crows, would it bother you as much? A question we regularly should be asking ourselves.

who goes below them? GC.... ?
GC, St. Kilda, Bulldogs, Brisbane.

Carlton will be huge improvers next year.

As I said, I predicted Collingwood for the Granny last year, I was roundly mocked. Predicting Carlton not to be bottom 3 is easy in comparison :).

Lay it on the line now - the 2019 grand finalists please.

So this claim is completely unfounded and unfair, but I look at Rozee’s face and think he isn’t going to cut. All too nice and gentle.

As uncle junior may say, he doesn’t have the makings of a varsity athlete.

Ps: I accept all that is coming to me from the baseless statement

I reckon he looks like a kid with a lot of heart. I think he looks a hell of a lot like Burton pre-draft. He'll be fine.

Ill give you GC, maybe Saints & Bullies but Brisbane was on the up & about this year and will win more than Carlton in 2019

I don't feel like we'll do any trading today. If we do, it'll be for someone like Riley Grundy or Koschitzke imo.

I'm not sure we'll grab another small, but then again we might really like Sparrow for example.

I wouldn't want us to get Valente, though.
