Was speaking to a fella at golf yesterday who is friends with a few Adelaide and SANFL recruiters.

He said Rankine is an insane talent and has the highest potential of anyone they’ve seen in many years.

Even if he wants to come home in a couple of years, it’s going to take a huge amount to get him back if he shows that potential.

Strikes me very much as someone who could be a one club player but gws is so stocked with mids that he might like his chances elsewhere...

I reckon of all the clubs, GWS messed with our drafting strategy the most. We probably would have gone with Caldwell if GWS didn't pick him.

We might have, but I doubt if Caldwell was in our sights all that much. The expectation would have been that Adelaide would have taken him anyway.

If the SA wunderkinder dont put in for GC why would you want them at this club. Hope this doesnt get you lot riled up but with the advantage of being in an aussie rules state surely there will be others. FOMO or not ; or just keeping up with the blackbirds .Carn Port !!

Usually I'd agree, but it's the Gold Coast.

I'm hoping lukosius and Rankine both find some loyalty to GC and end up have careers at one club like Pavlich.

Loyalty is sorely missing in the AFL now days.

Because he is very likely to struggle on the gold coast with no real help and after two years might be looked at as a bust.
He really needed to go to a club that has an established key forward so he could just develop his game with minimal pressure.

^^^Based on his good form is against men and not u/18's. That doesn't guarantee **** all but you have to rate form against men and in a stronger competition as a better indicator.

I agree that players these days should show more loyalty to football clubs. But Gold Coast isn't a football club, it's a failed marketing stunt. Frankly I'm amazed they can manage to find 40 players willing to sign a contract to play for them.

Gold coast came into the league because of $$ tasmania as a football state would of been a better option... 200k passionate tassie fans with there own team vs 200k people from the gold coast who only care about swimming and ****.

Pretty happy if the loyalty example was set by literally anyone other than the two best South Australian prospects in the last infinity years

Rankee will make it his life work to play for the crows , no way he last more then he 1st contract unless its 700k plus and even then I would not be confident if I was a suns fan

If I was a suns fan I would be moving to tassie... gold coast fc wouldnt be far behind.
