If they come out and beat Adelaide this week then I think it's safe to say they are a serious chance this season. They might do a Hawthorn in 08, only difference there is no stand out team like Geelong in 08. This season is wide open.

Honestly on my current ladder projections I have them a serious chance to miss the 8 (have them and Collingwood line ball for 8th at the moment) - horror draw back half of the year and as Jug said looking like flat track bullies at the moment.

Currently 3rd...

Adelaide (NT) (50/50)
Bulldogs W
Collingwood should W
Port away L? I reckon 60/40 Port
Saints home W
Freo (NT) W
Bulldogs W
Geelong away 60/40
Adelaide away L
Gold coast home W
Sydney MCG 50/50
Eagles away L
GWS home W

That's not the toughest run home, in fact I think it's pretty easy. If they can snag a win against Port or Adelaide at the AO then they're a chance at top 4. Depending if they don't choke against the weaker teams.

I'd have them a lot bigger dogs than 60/40 in Adelaide - underdogs down in Geelong

To be fair its going to be line ball either way with % potentially seperating 4th form 10th all on the same number of wins so those two small differences can have huge impacts on final ladder position this year!

True. It's likely going to come down to % this season to season who's in the top 8/4. Dees have a large % at the moment so that helps. At the moment, can't see dees dropping to below 6 at worst. The 8 won't change too much, North will slide out and wouldn't be surprised if Geelong missed this season. Teams like Hawks and Pies will maybe move up and possibly the Giants? If they get full strength. Such a tight season

Got to add in the fact that GWS have to be one of the more gutless teams when they get down I can remember in recent years for a 'good' side.

Even when they were up at half time I wasn't confident as I knew if the Kangas had a decent quarter GWS would most likely fold in the last even if they had enough use of the breeze to get back in the game

#theyknew
I track how teams respond to losses and how they bounce back and GWS just don't seem to have the culture or spirit to respond when things aren't going their way. Syd have had 2 cracking wins after losing and Ade won in Syd after getting a trashing in the media after a bad loss to Coll. GWS just trot out poor to average performances regardless.

Since round 5 last year GWS have given virtually nothing and this year is even worse bar the 1st game against a pitiful WB.

Mind you they were facing a better side in NM playing with a significant HGA.

Be interesting if getting Patton, Kelly and Davis back will be enough quality against Ess.
